Chapter Nine

When I was a kid, my dad used to tuck me up in bed and tell me horror stories about vampires. In most every story, the vampire would be depicted as a hideous beast hell-bent on wiping out all werewolves in sight.

So when Harry was stood before me with glowing red eyes and sharp fangs, I couldn't stop myself from panicking and attacking him.

From fear, I fell back from him and began the uncontrollable change. I felt every bone in my body lengthen. I felt every tooth in my mouth push out. I felt every nail harden, darken and grow out. I felt tiny pricks all over my body as my fur grew out.My senses heightened. And the pain intensified.

Then I blacked out.

Harry's P.O.V.

I must admit, I was utterly stunned as I watched Liam change. He grew to twice his normal size, with huge teeth and claws. But I wasn't afraid. I've fought werewolves before. But I've never hated one as much as I hate Liam, oddly enough. Liam wasn't just an average werewolf - he was something... else.

I was so deep in my thoughts that I was taken by surprise when Liam launched himself at me, teeth bared and snarling as he swiped at me with razor-sharp claws. At the last second, I threw my hands up in front of my face and took up my most effective defense position. I leaned back as Liam snapped at the air before my face. At my first chance, I pushed forward with all my strength, flinging Liam back into the bar in the back corner. He smashed through the counter and hit the middle pole that held up the cabana, smashing glasses and bottles as he went.

I winced at the sound and looked around the area surrounding the pool. I don't think we woke anyone. This was getting out of hand... I HAD to stop it.

When Liam was up and snarling at me, I put my hands out in front of me, trying to call a truce. "Li, calm down. We'll wake the whole hotel! Just wolf-down and we can go back up to bed as if nothing happened."

I had hoped this would work. I thought that Liam would listen in his werewolf form, since I'm sure he's somewhat special. But my hope was short-lived.

When Liam bolted at me, I used my super speed to evade his grasp. I tried running at him from his left but he saw me before I had a chance to stop, gripped me by my arm and threw me into the air. I twisted as I was airborne and ended up crashing into the pool with the werewolf above, watching me.

Before the bubbles of water cleared, I swam to the wall of the pool underneath Liam. As he searched for me in the water, ready to pounce, I leapt out of the water and tackled him. He crashed to the ground and went limp. When I looked, I saw his head had hit the floor - hard. He was unconscious and blood had begun to pool on the floor.

Drawing my attention away from the blood, I stood up and watched Liam as he turned back to a human. I then checked his heart-rate and other vitals.

Satisfied he was going to be OK, I hoisted him onto my shoulder and took him back to the penthouse, ignoring the mess we'd made. Once upstairs, I cleared him up in the bathroom, lay him back in his bed - without waking Zayn - and went back to my room with Louis. It was at least four hours later that Liam woke up in a blind panic, unable to remember what had happened after he had changed. He did remember I was a vampire, however, so we decided to persevere at liking each other. I still can't stand him, and I still don't know why. I hope I'll find out soon.
