Tadashi notices a new regular in the cafe. (technically this is a tumblr request, but the requester gave me the opportunity to write anything at random. So this is based off a scene from my favorite show growing up, Avatar: The Last Airbender. It's from 'The Tale of Zuko' from the episode Tales of Ba Sing Se. You don't have to know the show or episode to understand what's going on. So enjoy!)

It had become a new routine for you to go to the Lucky Cat Cafe every three times a week. From your first visit into the homely restaurant, you instantly felt welcomed. There were multiple factors for that matter; the cafe had a friendly atmosphere, the food was beyond fantastic, and you found it to be the perfect place to work in peace. Though, what you found most refreshing were the employees, who treated you like an honored guest.
And while you were afraid to admit it, there was one employee that you were constantly denying being the whole reason you kept coming back so often. You didn't know anything about him - not even his name. But there was something about him that you were easily drawn to. He seemed to always have a warm smile on his face that grew wider as he took people's' orders. When he spoke, he had a calm, soothing voice. You weren't sure if it made you feel more relaxed or anxious when you ordered from him, but you assumed it was a combination of both.
Nonetheless, he had gotten under your skin. From his friendly attitude to his charming looks, you couldn't keep yourself away from his place of work. You knew it was a bit stalkerish on your part, but today was finally the day you'd try to get to know this man a bit more.
Walking into the cafe, you took a deep breath, approaching the counter. To say you were a little bummed that the auburn-haired woman took your order today was an understatement. As much as you enjoyed her pep, it wasn't who you wanted to small talk with today. In fact, you didn't even see the raven-haired man. Assuming he had the day off, you glumly took your tea and sat at your favorite table.
Then you heard that familiar voice that snapped you out of your disappointment. It was his voice. You looked up from your steamy beverage, witnessing him rushing down the stairs as he tied his apron around his back. That endearing smile of his formed on his face as he looked around the cafe. You swore your eyes locked for a split second as he made it to the counter, but you brushed it off as it just being your imagination.
What you didn't know was that he did notice you. He had been noticing you coming to the cafe a lot lately. It wouldn't be the first time he'd seen a customer become a regular, but he still wondered what made you keep coming back.
"I see that girl is back again," the man said to the auburn-haired lady. He did a quick head motion over to your table. "She's been coming back here a lot."
The woman giggled back at her nephew. "You're right. I've seen that girl in here quite a bit." A smirk took over her face as she elbowed him in the arm. "I think someone has a little crush on you," she sang in a playful tone.
The man's eyes widened at the sound of that. "What?" He questioned.. He found it difficult to believe a customer would keep coming back just because of him. There was so much the cafe had to offer. He had figured something on the menu had caught your interest or you needed to quiet place to come to.
Yet, the middle aged woman saw it for what it was. She could tell by the way you acted when ordering from her nephew that you admired him in some way. Whether something romantic would happen between you two or not was beyond her knowing. Of course, she wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to playfully tease her nephew.
As you finished your last sip of tea, you started to give yourself a pep talk. You can do this, (Y/N). Just go up and there and make conversation. You got this. You know you can! Your legs feel like jelly as you approach the counter. The cup in your hand shakes violently; your knuckles turning white as your grip onto it tighter to avoid dropping it. After placing the fragile cup on the counter, you began digging into your purse for a tip. Your fingers found a loose, crumpled dollar bill that you kindly dropped into their tip jar.
When you looked up, you saw the attractive waiter take your cup. Okay, here's your chance, you thought as you took in a deep breath. "Thank you for the tea," you said with a smile.
In return, the man smiled back to you. He didn't bother to correct you that it was his aunt that had served you and not him. You took in another deep breath, your legs staying stuck in place no matter how badly you yearned to back out on this. I can do this!
"So, what's your name?" You asked as he had his back turned to you.
The question came as a shock to him. Sure, he talks to customers from time to time, but he's never been approached by one so directly. "I'm Tadashi," he told you as he turned back around. "And you are?"
Tadashi. That's a nice name. "I'm (Y/N)." Okay, here we go. "I know this might seem a little sudden, but...would you like to...go out sometime?"
You watched as his chocolate brown eyes widened at your question. He couldn't believe his aunt was right about you. Whether she was just kidding or not, she had picked up on something that he was completely oblivious to. Though, he was a bit hesitant to accept your offer for a date. It was unlike him to go out with someone that he barely knew.
Yet, before he could give you any type of answer, he felt a feminine hand grasp his shoulder. He looked over, seeing his aunt by his side. "He'd love to!" She answered for him.
You could feel your smile getting bigger. Despite the answer coming from her, you took it as a yes from him as well. "When does your shift end? If you're not busy, I can meet you here tonight."
Tonight. I barely have time to get ready! "Uh, I'll be done at six," he answered, a nervous chuckle following shortly after.
"Great! I'll see you then!" And with that, you rushed out of the cafe, waving at your date. Your heart was beating a mile a minute. You did it. You actually asked someone out and now you have a date. It couldn't have worked out any better if you had planned it.

Aaaaa I love how this turned out! I might write a sequel to this since the title would make better sense, but I think for those that have seen the show get it. Idk, I'm really tempted to write a part 2.
Anyway, who else has been super excited over the news about Big Hero 6 getting a TV series next year!?! I know I'm pumped :D
