Fred surprises the reader with a taco date.

---

You were walking down the hall of your boyfriend, Fred's mansion. He had told you that the dinner plans were a surprise. You were curious what he had up your sleeve. You didn't expect anything too fancy; despite Fred's wealth, he always ate whatever he wanted when he wanted. And the majority of his consumption was junk food.

Yet, he seemed extra excited about this surprise he was keeping hidden from you. You didn't need anything too overdone. You were visualizing walking into the kitchen with a personal chef grilling steak or boiling lobster. Immediately you shook those thoughts away. Fred would never have a chef to cook things for him. And even if he did, you couldn't smell anything being made. What mattered most to you was the Fred was going out of his way to do something nice even though he didn't have to.

Entering the large, immaculate kitchen, you were shocked to see a bunch of bowls laid out around the counter. Walking up closer, you noticed a certain theme with what was in each bowl. Lettuce, cheese, tomato, beef, sour cream and beans. Sure enough you spotted empty taco shells which you would soon be filling.

You should have guessed this was the surprise. Tacos were one of Fred's favorite foods and you knew he hadn't had one in awhile. You couldn't even remember the last time you had a taco yourself.

"Are you excited to have tacos, (Y/N)?" Fred asked, walking up next to you.

You nodded as you examined all your options for what to put inside your tacos. "Absolutely! This all looks so good." Looking over at Fred, you gave him a quick peck on the cheek as a thank you for the dinner surprise. A light shade of pink dusted his cheeks as he smiled back at you.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's make some tacos!"

Handing you a plate, Fred let you have first dibs on whatever you wanted to have in your tacos. You placed some beef at the bottom first, followed by lettuce, cheese and tomato. Adding a scoop of beans to the side, you watched as your boyfriend didn't hesitate to stuff his taco shells full of food. "Careful, Freddie. You might break the shells," you jokingly warned.

Fred chuckled at your comment. "A broken shell won't stop me from eating these crunchy tortillas of goodness," he responded, earning a laugh out of you. Fred's humor always put you in a good mood. He always went out of your way to make you smile no matter what the situation was. It felt so natural and genuine to be around him. You felt so lucky to have a met a guy like him.

As you walked over to the dining table, Fred wrapped an arm around your back; his fingers gently rubbed your side lovingly. Taking a seat, Fred lifted his first taco in the air, gesturing for you to do the same. As you followed his silent request, he tapped the end of his taco to yours. "Cheers," he stated.

A quiet giggle escaped before you took your first bite. Instantly your mouth was filled with so much flavor. You hummed in content as you continued to chew. "Mmm, this is great. Did you make the meat and beans?"

"I did," Fred confirmed after swallowing his first bite. "I also bought the other stuff and laid it out before you showed up.

Your heart fluttered when he told you this. Fred had gone out of his way to make a date special before, but not like this. Despite the simplicity of tacos for dinner, he had spent the whole day planning it and keeping it a secret until now. You couldn't help, but feel touched.

"Wow, thank you, sweetie. It tastes amazing." That was no lie. While Fred ate some questionable combinations of food, he was a shockingly good cook.

"You really think so?" He asked. Immediately, you nodded in approval, taking another bite and humming away. "I'm really glad you like it. I know you were probably expecting something better, but I figured I could make us something we both enjoy."

The slight frown that formed on Fred's face broke your heart. The sweet gesture of preparing dinner was more than enough in your eyes. And yet, here was Fred, a kind young man who felt like he could have done better because of his financial status. Didn't he know how much he meant to you?

"Freddie," you began. You placed your taco down and reached your hand out to Fred's shoulder. "You know that I appreciate every little thing you do. Going out of your way to surprise me with this meal? That's the sweetest thing someone has ever done for me. You do so many small things that make me happy and I hope I do the same for you."

"Of course you do, honey," Fred answered as he placed a hand on top of yours. "I don't think I'd do the things I would for you if you didn't make me happy."

"I make Freddie happy?" You asked, talking in third person which you knew he liked to do on occasion.

A grin returned to his face to which you were pleased to see. "You make Freddie very happy."

Giggling, you leaned closer to Fred's face, sharing a soft kiss. You smiled as it deepened, which made Fred smile back in return. "Thank you for such a wonderful dinner, Freddie. We should have tacos more often."

"Now that is something I can agree to."
