Reader is sad about having to end a friendship with someone and talks to Hiro about it (tumblr request)

---

A hitched breath escaped your lips as you walked through the streets of San Fransokyo. Your head hung low, wanting no one to see your glassy eyes. Tears had been threatening to fall down your face from the second you left home.

Lately, you've felt that things have taken a bad turn within your group of close friends. One friend in particular has been acting extremely rude. They constantly boss you and your other friends around in public. When one friend isn't present, they tend to talk behind their back. It's been really draining to be around them which has left you in tough spot.

If you stopped being friends with them, you more than likely wouldn't get to see your other friends as often as you do now. There were a lot of good memories between all of you though! You didn't want to ruin that. Was this friendship still worth it despite dreading being around them?

If you continued being friends and pretended all was well, how much more of this would you be able to take? The sarcastic insults. Listening to how angry they are at one of your other friends for the smallest things. Knowing they're probably saying something hurtful about you when you're not around.

Soon enough, you made it to the Lucky Cat Cafe. With the amount of things on your mind, you thought it'd be nice to see your good friend, Hiro. He didn't know you were coming. All you needed was to spend time with someone that didn't stress you out.

As you opened the door, the bell above rang. Not surprisingly, the place was mostly crowded. For now, finding a seat was less of a concern. You wanted to find Hiro as soon as you could.

It occurred to you that you probably should have let him know you would be over. There was a chance that he was hanging out with his other friends. Or up in his room doing homework.

"(Y/N)?" You heard a familiar voice say.

Snapping out of your thoughts, you looked over at where the voice was coming from. To your happiness, you saw Hiro walking towards you. He had been over at the counter talking to his aunt.

A huge smile formed on your face. "Hiro! It's so good to see you."

"I could say the sa--" Hiro stopped mid-sentence. As he got closer to you, he noticed your current appearance. Your eyes were bloodshot and slightly puffy. He frowned, sensing that something was wrong. "Hey...are you okay?"

The question caught you off guard. You weren't sure if you wanted to jump right into anything. It would have been nice to catch up with him and see how his life was going too. Yet, with what was recently bothering you, it would be nice to talk it out to someone.

You shook your head. "N-no. Not really." You looked away and sighed. "Things have been...complicated."

Hiro's frown deepened. He didn't like the sound of that. "Oh. Sorry to hear that. Do you wanna talk about it?"

You nodded. "Sure. Can we sit?"

Agreeing to that, you and Hiro took a seat at one of the few empty tables left. When you sat down, Hiro kept an eye on you. He had never seen you so reserved before. Your arms remained crossed and you were looking at the floor. Being in Hiro's presence was helping, but it couldn't make your problems go away.

"What's going on, (Y/N)?" He asked in a soft tone. "I know we haven't hung out in a couple months and I feel bad about that."

"It's okay. We've both been busy. You have schoolwork and other hobbies that take up a lot of your time. And for me...I also have school. I spend a lot of time with my friends too." You sighed heavily at the thought of your friend group. How could you word all of this to him? Would Hiro understand what you're going through? "A-actually. I think I'm going through a rough patch with my friends."
