Hiro and the reader take a very special visit together (older!Hiro)

---

You stroked your boyfriend's hand with your thumb as you walked along the sidewalk. Usually, the two of you would have sparked a lively conversation, but this was no ordinary date. In fact, you weren't sure if you consider this as a date. You two were alone together and it was meant to be that way for the rest of the day. Yet, it wasn't for the best of reasons. And whenever you could sense how off Hiro was acting as you got closer to your destination, the tighter your grip on his hand got.

While you understood why he was this way, it still saddened you to see him like that. Quiet, reserved, depressed and hurt...it wasn't like him. Well, on most days anyway. There was only a couple times a year where he got like this and today was one of those days. The last thing you wanted was for him to be alone, so you were more than happy to come along with him on this quick trip.

Finally, you had made it; giving Hiro another hand squeeze before entering. His facial expressions got more painful to see as you both walked up a hill. Your eyes glanced to the ground as you found what you and Hiro came for.

Sadly, you smiled down at Hiro's late brother's grave. You slowly placed the small bouquet of cherry blossoms that you had bought down right above his name. Tadashi. You never got the opportunity to meet him, but you knew how much of an impact he had on Hiro's life. He'd tell you stories about him and what life was like growing up. It devastated you when he told you what happened three years ago. Sometimes, the death of his older brother weighed down on Hiro. But ever since you two had been together, you'd always listen to him when he was feeling blue.

Looking back over at Hiro, you noticed his frown had deepened. Sighing, you began to softly rub his back. "Would you like some alone time or--"

"No," Hiro interrupted. His voice shuddered as he spoke up. You could see his bottom lip start to quiver and he stared down at his brother's grave. "Pl-please...stay here."

You nodded in response, moving closer to him. Your hand clasped onto his left shoulder as his head fell to yours. Both of you stood there in silence, looking at the grave. His brother was so young when he died...

A sniffle erupted in your ear. When you looked back over at Hiro, you noticed fresh tears staining his face as they trailed down his cheekbones. It made your heart ache to see your boyfriend so low-spirited. He had every right to be and you knew there wasn't much you could do to make him feel better in the moment. He'd always be grieving over such an unfortunate family death. All you knew is that you wanted to be right by his side when he needed you.

He buried his face into your neck, his sobs getting louder. Your hand traveled from his shoulder to the top of his head. Your fingers laced through his thick, raven strands in a soothing motion. "I-It hurts, (Y/N)," he muffled through his hitched breathing.

You turned your head enough to give the top of his head a short kiss. "I know, sweetie," you told him as you ruffled his hair. "He'd...he'd be proud of you." Your own voice was now getting choked up. "Saving the city all the time and helping people...I know he's happy." A tear of your own escaped from you eye.

The warm feeling of Hiro's head left your shoulder. As you got a good look at his teary-eyed face, you brushed them away with your thumbs. He smiled at you, but you could tell it was a little forced. "Thanks, (Y/N). I just can't believe it was three years ago today that he..." Hiro began to trail off. You could tell he was in his own little world, remembered what had happened all that time ago. You noticed how his eyes flickered wider as he remembered a certain part.

Instantly, you wrapped your arms around Hiro to which he hesitantly hugged back. From the stories he'd tell you on the night of the showcase, you knew there was a lot of traumatizing memories that were probably going on in his head. "I'm sorry, Hiro."

You sighed heavily. You wished you could understand Hiro's emotional pain more to help him in moments like these. Sure, you had gone through family deaths, but you knew the sibling relationship that Hiro and Tadashi had was something special.

"I wish I could have met him," you admitted, yet another tear falling down your face. "He sounded like such an incredible person."

Hiro broke out of the hug, now firmly holding onto your hands in his. "Oh, (Y/N)," he started off in a sad, but passionate way. "He would have loved you. There's no doubt he'd be teasing us about getting married or wondering the next time you'd come over for dinner. He would've thought you'd fit right in."

Hiro's touching words brought happiness to your heart. Wiping away the last of your tears, you looked back over to his brother's grave. You knelt down, tracing the lines in his name with your finger. "Hi, Tadashi. I know you don't know me, but Hiro's told me so much about you. Don't worry. I promise I'll take good care of him."

Hiro knelt down next to you, placing a hand on the bottom of the grave. "Hey, Tadashi. I...I miss you. I really hope you like (Y/N). I know you would. Anyway, we just came to stop by. Love you, bro."

A bit more collected now, Hiro stood back up, holding out a hand to you. "Ready to go?"

"Yeah. Thanks for bringing me here. I know it meant a lot."

"It did. Thanks for coming."

I've had this idea for awhile now and finally decided to write it! I just have the biggest urge to tell Hiro that Tadashi would be so proud of him. Hope you enjoyed this sappy fanfic!
