Tadashi is comforting the reader who just lost a close family member (tumblr request)

You threw yet another one of your wadded tissues towards your trashcan. It bounced off the rim, but you had no energy to pick it up. Just like you had no energy to pick up the other ones you had been throwing that had also failed to make it in. Like it had been all day, you felt a new, fresh set of tears trickling in your eyes. It seemed like you never caught a break; when one tissue was thrown out, you immediately needed another one.

You were beyond tired of this depressing routine. Not being able to bring yourself to do anything. Tear after tear falling down your face. Shutting the world out. You had a strong desire to fall asleep and forget everything that happened today, but you couldn't. Your mind was busy with memory after another. When would your brain just leave you alone?

You went to grab another tissue when there was a knock at your door. You were sure it was your (mom/dad/guardian) bringing you some food despite your lack of an appetite. But you decided to let whoever it was come inside.

When the door opened, you were surprised to see it was your boyfriend, Tadashi. You noticed he had an envelope in one hand and a single, pink rose in the other. "Hi, sweetheart," he greeted, slowly walking over to you. You weakly waved back at him, not feeling up to talking. He handed out the items in his hands. "I uh, heard about what happened. I'm so sorry about your grandfather."

Slowly, you took the envelope which neatly had your name on it in Tadashi's handwriting. You put it to the side, deciding to open in later. As for the rose, you gave it a quick smell. "Thanks," you whispered quietly, not wanting Tadashi to hear the croaks in your voice as you spoke.

Tadashi smiled back at you sadly. He knew family deaths were not easy to go through. "So, would you like some company?"

You pondered this, figuring out what you wanted more. You liked the idea of just being left alone. Yet, that wasn't doing you much good. And Tadashi was always good at comforting you when you needed it. Though, you also didn't want him to see you upset.

"Sure," you responded, forcing a half smile.

You moved over in your bed to give him some room. As he sat down next to you, he wrapped his arm around you, rubbing your arm lovingly. Pressing his nose against your head, he left soft, quick kisses on temple every few seconds. Finally, he found the words that he was looking for to say. He opened his mouth to say something, but he was cut short.

You didn't know he was about to speak. The fact that he was just there beside you, being there for you when you needed it was more than enough. But of course, it couldn't make the pain you had been feeling all day instantly go away. So, here you were now, head resting on his shoulder as you quietly sobbed. Every whimper that escaped from you made Tadashi's heart crack, but he knew it was better than you keeping it all inside. And you were no longer feeling guilty about him seeing you so vulnerable. Your heart was far too heavy to pretend you were feeling better.

Tadashi guided his hand from your arm to you back. Your body was trembling furiously as he slowly ran his fingers up and down your spine. His nose had moved to the top of your head, leaving much longer kisses, especially when your breathing became more hitched.

"I-I...I know h-he's in a b-better place n-now...b-but it hu-hurts s-so much," you managed to say, leaning in closer to your boyfriend's touch.

He left another long kiss on your head. "I know, (Y/N)," he told you, his own voice sounded a bit choked up. "I know. At least he died peacefully in his hospital room."

"Yeah..."

You looked up at him with your (e/c), bloodshot eyes as another tear started trailing down your left cheek. Softly, Tadashi cradled his hand onto your chin, wiping the tear away with his thumb. "Hey...he's...he's watching over you. I know it," he said, kissing the base of your forehead afterwards.

In return, you gave him a quick peck on his cheek. The first genuine, but small smile formed on your face. "Thank you, Tadashi." You wrapped your arms around him, placing your head against his chest. The steady rise and fall of his chest as he breathed soothed you. "I really appreciate you coming over. It means a lot."

Tadashi's grip around you became more protective. "Anytime, beautiful. I'm always here for you when you need someone." He pressed his nose to your head again, inhaling the scent of your hair. "And I always will be."

Aw, isn't he sweet? We all need a Tadashi to comfort us in moments like these. I hope this helps anyone out who's going through anything similar.
