Amy could hear their voices. The hushed whispers. They weren't loud enough for her to really hear everything, but she could make out a word or two every once in a while.
'what' 'why' 'suicidal' 'depressed' 'stressed, maybe' 'so sad' 'therapist' 'help'
Amy had to stop listening. It was too much. She had only woke up a few minutes ago and she knew Ian, Sinead and a few others were all talking about her just outside of the door.
After a few more minutes, Amy decided that she needed to figure out what they were talking about, but she was just too tired to sneak around. Her head was pounding, but it was bearable. A quick mental debate later, she decided that she was going to just go out and ask.
As soon as Amy had her hand on the doorknob, all talking stopped and their heads turned to her. They looked like they were scared to talk. Sinead opened her mouth to say something but decided not to and looked down at her feet.
"Where's Dan? Is he still unconscious?" She knew she had decided on asking about what they were saying, but she needed to know about what happened to Dan.
Everyone was looking at her. She felt like sinking back into the room, closing the door and curling up in a ball of sadness. Instead, she opted for draping her arms around her stomach and leaning against the door frame.
"He should wake up in the next few weeks. Of course that's just a rough estimate. He might wake up sooner or later than that." The reply came from Ted, in the back of the group.
Amy took a moment to look at everyone. Sinead and her brothers looked stressed. Ian looked disappointed. The Holt twins looked confused. Hamilton looked about ready to give up. Nellie looked like she had been crying. Nellie looked like she had reverted back to her stone cold and snobby nature, locking up her feelings inside. Jonah was just standing there, looking at the ground, deep in thought, with black rings around his eyes.
"I'm sorry." Amy felt like she caused all of this. Or at least some of it. Maybe even none of this, but she felt like that was the right thing to say.
Amy watched their faces all crumbled a little bit more. Jonah had a tear leaking from his left eye. Sinead only hesitated for a moment before throwing herself at Amy, wrapping her in a tight hug and crying into her shoulder. Ian placed a hand on her arm, trying to give her some sort of comfort. All the others just looked down or nodded or just looked a little more sad.
She could watch any longer and buried her face into Sinead's neck, breathing deeply to try and keep from sobbing. Amy figured they were standing there for about 5 minutes because when they looked up, everyone other than Ian and Nellie were gone.
Ian was now rubbing her arm gently up and down, letting her know that he was still there as Nellie simply watched, her bottom lip trembling and tears rolling down her face.
"When can I see Dan?" Amy asked.
"I can show you where the room is right now." Sinead said.
Amy nodded before following Sinead down the hallway and into the hospital wing, where she led Amy one of the rooms that was occupied. When Amy walked in, she saw the young boy she barely recognized. Dan's brown hair looked dull, he was dressed in a hospital gown, eyes closed, with wires and tubes running in and out of him. Instead of a rush of sadness and grief like she was expecting, she just felt numb standing there

Hey, guys. I've noticed that not many people are reading this story and I know it's kinda long and there's a lot more drama than I planned on putting in this, but if you're still reading this, just comment "I am" or whatever just so I know who is and who isn't reading this. Thank you!
