Chapter 14

Ben had told his family at the following Friday night dinner and according to him they had been almost as happy as him about the news. However, I wasn't so sure whether he was telling the truth. Despite my doubts we were currently standing at the top of the path which led to his parent's house, two weeks since we had gotten back together, preparing to enter.

Tonight was my first Friday night meal with the Jones' family since they had found out, and I was terrified. I knew that Laura and Jane didn't mind but I wasn't sure about Bob and Georgia. Never in a million years did I expect them to accept Ben and mines relationship, I was his student after all. Like normal we were heading to Ben's parent's house. We couldn't eat out as no one could spot Ben and I together.

Gripping onto Ben's hand we walked up the path and into the house. Audibly gulping, Ben squeezed my hand, and we walked through the door. I felt my heart speed up as we entered the dining room where everyone else was already sitting. Jane jumped up as soon as she saw us and threw her arms around the both of us.

"Jenny!" She chirped happily as she pulled away. "We've missed you," she smiled as her gaze switched from me to Ben before returning to me. The rest of the family hugged me, which made me feel slightly more at ease, before we sat down at the table. The dinner felt much like all the others I had experienced at the Jones'. I was expecting things to be different somehow but they all treated me exactly the same.

Just after the meal was served Jane said, "Guys we really need to go through a few details for our trip at Christmas." I smiled as I remember how excited Laura had been when describing the holiday the family were taking to the Caribbean over the Christmas break. The family started happily going over flight details and other important factors. I never realised just how much organisation a holiday took.

Suddenly, Jane looked at me her mouth popping open. "Jenny, sorry how rude of us!" She cried. I just waved my hand at her, signifying that I didn't mind that they were talking about something I wasn't included in. I actually liked seeing how close Ben was with the rest of his family. "You know what, you should come with us. You're part of the family now after all." A grin spread across my lips at her last sentence. It felt amazing to be accepted into such an incredible family despite what Ben and I had been through and were still going through.

"Oh I don't want to intrude," I laughed not really sure if Jane was being serious or not. There was no way I would be able to go anyway. I couldn't exactly tell my parents that I was going on holiday with my boyfriend which they couldn't meet. They definitely wouldn't be too happy about that. I knew we would just be spending Christmas how we always did. Jane shook her head at my words.

"Oh don't be silly. You have to come. We would love it," she explained as she grinned at me. Her smile exactly the same as the gorgeous boy's next to me. I smiled at her enthusiasm even though I knew it wasn't possible. She was truly making me feel like part of the family. Turning to look at Ben I was met by his eyes which were already on me. He shifted in his seat so he could now face me, his arm moving to the back of my wooden chair. Smiling slightly as his eyes met mine I took his hand within mine. Everything felt so natural with him again, like nothing had ever changed.

"You have to come Goofy," he pleaded as his hand moved from the back of my chair and tangled itself within my hair. I leaned into his hand as I grinned widely at him. I really had grown fond of his nickname for me. It was another special thing between just the two of us. As I looked into his eyes I almost forgot he had even said something to me.

"You know I can't," I sighed unhappily as the smile was wiped off my face. "What would I tell my parents?" I continued causing Ben to frown, clearly upset. I could see all the cogs working in his mind as he tried to figure out a solution to our problem. His eyebrows pulled together forming a crease between them and making him look adorable. I knew he had drawn a blank when his eyes met mine again. However, he still had a determined expression plastered on his face.
