Chapter 12
It was exactly a week since the car journey with Ben and his sister. I had replayed what he said to me time after time but the more I thought about it the more confused I became. I had tried not to think about it but whenever my mind would wonder somehow Ben would make an appearance.
Tonight I had arranged to go out to a party at one of Lexi's friends houses. I was excited to spend time with her because I hadn't seen her since we went skiing a couple of weeks ago. This party would also be the perfect way to end my half term.
After packing my overnight bag I started flicking through my wardrobe, trying to decide on something to wear. After much deliberation I picked out my favourite black dress which reached the middle of my thigh. I had just finished adding the final touches to my make up when I noticed Lexi's car pull up outside of my house. Shouting my goodbyes to my parents I dashed out the door.
Slinging my bag in the back seat I hopped into the car and greeted Lexi. "You look stunning!" Lexi chirped as soon as she saw me. I grinned as I thanked her while she started to drive. We caught up as we drove to the house. I ended up telling Lexi all about my eventful night with Adam last week which she seemed to find rather funny.
As we neared her friends house I turned up the volume to the radio and we both started belting out Bastille's newest song.
After parking the car we practically danced our way to the house and through the crowd of people milling about outside. The music was so loud I could barely hear Lexi speak but instinctively we both headed towards the kitchen to get a drink. I recognised a few faces here and there. A couple of the other ski instructors were also here as well as some of Ben's friends.
The kitchen was packed but there was still space to move around. After grabbing two shot glasses, and filling them up, Lexi handed one to me before we both quickly downed them. Soon another shot was in my hand and about second later the clear liquid was burning down my throat. After our shots I grabbed a vodka and lemonade while Lexi just took a lemonade, as she had to drive, before we headed back out to the dance floor.
We both danced to the well known song which was playing, singing the lyrics we knew. The crowd of people was growing as we continued to dance whilst sipping on our drinks. We both flung our arms up in the air as we swayed our hips to the beat. Lexi was grinning wildly at me as she spun around her hands remaining in the air.
I laughed at her realising the small amount of alcohol she had consumed was already having an affect on her. I was already on my second drink, while she remained on her first non-alcoholic drink, and I couldn't yet feel the affect of the alcohol. I just hoped she sobered up before she drove us home. After downing the rest of my cup I dodged my way to the kitchen to get a refill.
By the time I returned Lexi had somehow managed to reach the middle of the living room, which was being used as a dance floor. She was in her own world as she spun and dipped, twirling around to the music. Squealing loudly when I reached her as she grabbed my hand and we started to dance together. We were being pushed and shoved from every direction, but as the alcohol finally started to blur my vision I didn't care.
Both shoved again, I fell to the ground. Unable to stand on my wobbling legs. Lexi picked me back up before we continued to dance. My vision spun as I looked around the crowded room, not able to pick one face out among the sea of people.
Shouts filled the room and before I knew it I was on the floor again, a sharp pain shooting through my head. I looked around bewildered unable to pull myself up from the ground. People trampled on my hands and feet as everyone seemed to start pushing each other. Looking around I tried to find Lexi but my eyes couldn't distinguish one face from another.
