Chapter 15
Today was finally the day. After much persuasion my parents had agreed to let me go on holiday. Now, after a drawn out goodbye to my parents I was in the car with Maggie on the way to the airport. I couldn't wipe the grin from my face as I bounced up and down in my seat.
Maggie was chatting away, almost as excited as me and she wasn't even coming. I knew as soon as I returned she would be bombarding me with questions though.
Once we arrived at the airport I jumped out of the car and slung my rug sack onto my back and pulled Maggie into my arms. I was only going away for a week but I was going to miss my best friend. With one last look in her direction I sent a quick her a quick wave before I entered the busy terminal where I had agreed to meet Ben and his family.
I spotted Laura first, her blonde hair catching my eye. Skipping over, my suitcase trailing behind me, I leapt into Ben's arms who was laughing at my excited expression. "Just a bit excited I see?" He whispered into my ear before kissing the side of my head.
"Just a bit," I grinned as I stepped back from his grip and walked beside him to the check in desks. The rest of Ben's family had already checked in so it was just me left to go. Ben's eyes scanned the crowded terminal, searching for any familiar faces that could catch us together. I couldn't wait for the following week when we would no longer have to worry. We could just be ourselves.
There was no queue at security so we walked through quickly and managed to grab a meal at Gordan Ramsey's restaurant before heading towards our gate. Taking our places at the gate, due to Jane's paranoia about missing our flight, we still had a two hour wait before our flight even boarded.
Pulling out my iPod from the front pocket of my bag, I put the headphones in my ears. Before I could hit the play button the iPod was grabbed from my hands and a earplug from one of my ears. Ben slipped the headphone into his own ear and selected a song. A smile slipped into my slips as my current favourite song filled my ears.
"You know Kodaline?" I asked as turned to Ben. The sound of high hopes playing. Ben just rolled his eyes as if I had just asked him the most ridiculous question ever. Shoving his shoulder I pulled out the book I had shoved into my backpack at the last minute and flicked to the first page.
Ben followed suit also pulling out a book from his bag. I couldn't help but laugh when I noticed he was reading a geography book, he really was a nerd.
Finally, our flight started to board. Sitting in the very back row I was called first so left Ben's family so I could go queue. Ben had tried to persuade someone to swap so we could sit next to each other but I wouldn't allow it. My seat was in the very back row, next to the toilets, and they were sitting at the front of economy with extra foot space.
Trailing down the aisle I found my row. Luckily I had the window seat, so after slipping along my row I settled down pulling out all my snacks and stuffing them into the pocket of the seat in front of me. I was reading through the movies which would be showing over the nine hour flight when Ben came and plopped himself down next to me.
"Um hey?" I said, confusion plastered across my face.
"Hey," Ben said with a grin as he started settling himself down next to me.
"What you doing?" I asked as my eyebrows pulled together into a frown.
"Swapped seats," Ben said with a shrug. Shaking my head I smiled as I pushed him in the shoulder playful. He was such an idiot sometimes, but that was just one of the many reason he was so incredible.
About an hour into the flight I ended up falling asleep. My head buried into Ben's shoulder, his arm around me. I was so comfortable I slept the rest of the flight and was woken gently by Ben just as we were about to land.
