Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Today was the day of mine and Ben's diving session and I could not be more excited. After getting ready we left the others and headed to the activity desk where we had agreed to meet our instructor. I was practically jumping up and down by the time we met our instructor. He was an older man with greying hair named David.

We followed him hand in hand towards the spa pool where we would be doing our training. Here we could get used to the equipment and learn how to use it. After changing into our wetsuits David explained how everything worked before we had a go ourselves.

After half an hour in the pool David deemed us ready to go in the tanks. Grinning from ear to ear I skipped behind David, my wetsuit leaving a trail of water as we walked along a narrow corridor of the spa. It was dimly lit by floor lights which sat at the bottom of two stream which ran along either side of the corridor. The tiled walls reflected these lights, sending a square pattern onto the ceiling. Taking a left we walked out into a large room where the tops of the tanks were. This is where employees were able to feed the fish and access the tanks for cleaning purposes.

Looking down through the clear water we were able to see all the people ambling through the aquarium. The heat from the large windows which took up practically the whole far wall started to dry our wetsuits as we set up our equipment.

Finally equipped and ready to go we jumped into the first tank and I was instantly in awe. Fish surround us, all of different colours, shapes and sizes. I couldn't help but try to squeal into my mouth piece when I saw a baby shark swimming about. It was incredible and I knew that I would never forget this experience.

I noticed little kids in the aquarium pointing towards us, wondering what we were doing. I couldn't help but wave and laugh when they waved widely back at me, grinning from ear to ear. However, soon the fish had my full attention again. They honestly were incredible.

We soon moved onto the next tank. As soon as I jumped into the water I couldn't believe it. This tank was based on Finding Nemo. Not only was it filled with many little Nemos and Dorys but I also spotted some Squirts. When the first little turtle came into view I grabbed Ben and pointed him out, clearly gesturing my excitement at the small creature. My excitement only grew when a large turtle, clearly the smaller ones father, came and swam beside the little one. I wished I had a camera so I could see this moment forever.

We spent the longest time in the second tank before moving onto the third. However, the second remained my favourite. Around an hour and half later we finally emerged from the aquarium through the spa, all our kit returned. "Did you see the little Squirt?" I chirped as we walked along the beach front. I was still raving about the Finding Nemo tank as we went to meet everyone else for lunch. "It was so cute," I continued as Ben just grinned at me.

"So you enjoyed it then?" He commented, although the answer was clear.

"Am I not being enthusiastic enough?" I chuckled as I glanced towards him.

"Not really," he laughed as be slipped his hand into mine and swung our hands between us.

"Oh be quiet," I laughed as I continued to talk about the whole session. I knew this experience would not be one I would be forgetting. Never again would I get the chance to be able to get so close to such exotic fish again, it was amazing.

We reached the beach side restaurant where we had agreed to meet everyone else. It was beautiful, small wooden tables coated with a white table cloth were dotted around the small restaurant. Red umbrellas, which matched the napkins, shaded the customers. A black railing separated the restaurant from the path alongside the beach.

Walking through the small metal gate we soon identified everybody else and took the two empty seats, opposite one another, at the end of the table. Ben's hand didn't leave mine as we sat down and the others asked how our session was.

"It was incredible, they had a tank with all the fish from Finding Nemo in," I squealed, still not quite over this fact yet. Laura was the only one who seemed to share my excitement that I had seen a little Squirt, so we quickly started our own conversation.

Soon our food arrived and we were back to talking about plans for the rest of the week. Ben's eye caught mine as he turned to look at me. "I heard about a water park not far from here. How about we go tomorrow?" He suggested with a shrug before loading up his mouth again. He really was a sweet guy, he always wanted to do the activities I wanted to do. He was so caring and it never ceased to amaze me.

Grinning I quickly agreed. I had never been to a water park before but it sounded amazing. Plus it would be nice to spend the day in the water so we didn't get too hot. Ben grinned back at my quick response.

"How about we all go?" Jane suggested, having clearly been listening to our conversation. "If you don't mind of course," Jane added as an after thought.

"Of course not!" I cried. It would be nice to spend the day with Ben's family and get to know them better.

"Sorted," Jane chirped happily after everyone else had agreed around the table. Looking back to Ben I smiled happily, excitement for tomorrow already starting to build.

AN: Sorry it's so short but this is one of the chapters that deleted and I can't really remember what I wrote before but I don't want to write about the things I've already done in the next chapters, this probably makes no sense but yeah.

I might add some more detail to the events later, not really sure yet.
