(Wow Sam basically died XD welp there goes my OCs life. RIP Sam. Nobody cares about you, Sam. You do not have a last name, Sam. SHUT UP SAM YOU DON'T HAVE A MIDDLE NAME EITHER SAM!! idk) (HOORAY FOR THE SLOWEST UPDATE IN THE HISTORY OF EVER!)

As soon as the Irken's side was exposed, Dib spat the glass at it and quickly whispered, "Agent Mothman, 328!" Before Zim could react to anything, the glass changed into daggers and dug into Zim's chest.

"AAAHH!!" Zim screamed in pain, dropping the dirk and falling to the floor. He cradled the wound, face contorted in pain. "You win... this round.. Dib! But Zim'll... be--"

"Back?" Dib interrupted. "Back from the hospital, maybe." The human then muttered another command to the daggers, and they cut him free from the table. Dib sat up, unable to believe how close he was to being dissected. His eyes wandered to the alien, the foul, rotten, pathetic piece of meat crumpled on the floor. Guilt stabbed him much like the daggers did Zim. Was he to stoop so low to try and kill Zim? No, he decided. If I could convince him to stop what he's doing.... But that would be impossible. Zim would never change... Could he?

"Zim," Dib spoke. The Irken groaned and frowned, his eyes shut tight. "Zim!" Dib shouted, louder.

"Just finish Zim off, instead of--ugh!--toying with your food...." Zim spat, giving him a purely loathsome glare.

Dib looked away, unable to see anyone like this, even if Zim was his enemy. "I just want to--"

"HELP?!" Zim yelled, suddenly sitting upright, his expression wild. "YOU WANT TO HELP ZIM AFTER YOU STAB ZIM?!"

"Oh... right... uh sorry..." Dib stammered, rubbing his neck uncomfortably. Was it worth the effort? Yes, he reminded himself, you caused this, and now you'll fix it. With trembling fingers, Dib held out his hand. "Either take it, or wait until my dad finds you. Then it's off to the autopsy table for sure."

"Says you! All you've been--" he emitted another blood-curdling cry of pain and agony, "s-saying for th-the past six years... is that y-you'll have me dissect--ed!" Zim's face was now draining of the normal green hue and was turning a sickly shade of gray. He was losing life fast... "If you won't d-do it... FINE! I'll f-finish myself!" Zim reached for the fallen dirk, but Dib kicked it away quickly.

The boy grabbed Zim by the collar and pinned him against the wall. "I'M TRYING TO HELP YOU!" he yelled angrily. "It was my fault you're like this, yes, but I can fix it!"

"Let go o-of me!" Zim shrieked, batting angrily at Dib's firm grip in vain.

"Fine, then, die," spat the boy. "If you don't want help even at the cost of your life, then I guess you're just too stubborn for this world." He let go of Zim and watched as the alien fell to his knees, his arms trembling and side bleeding more steadily than ever.

"You're--forgetting one thing--Dib-worm," Zim stammered, the pain in his chest seeming to dull. In fact, everything seemed to dull. The room was swallowed by darkness, but Zim forced himself to stay alive. "... PAK lasers."

"Wha--" mumbled Dib, but Zim whipped out his lasers--these ones obviously really heavy duty--from his PAK and aimed them surprisingly well for--well, a dying person.

"If I--go down..." the Irken growled, "you go with me."

Boom.

Gris' antennae flew forward as a rush of wind pushed her so harshly that she almost fell to her knees. Steadying herself, she glanced over her shoulder and stifled a gasp. The entire Membrane residence--engulfed in tongues of flame. "Oh, Irk...." she muttered, watching the smoke rise into the sky ceaselessly. "Zim... what did you do...?"

She took a few steps forward, but stopped when an ear-splitting siren pierced her antennae. "Argh, that horrible sound!" Gris moaned, pressing her hands to the side of her head to dull the headache she just got. "I... I better leave. There's no way any of them survived..." She left just as a tall human in a large white lab coat ran up to the burning building. It pained Gris to know that those in the house were more than just acquaintances. Maybe Zim didn't have any family to care for him, but Dib and Gaz...? She'd bet just about anything that the tall man was Professor Membrane, who loved his children--correction, thought Gris, loved his daughter--more than anything else, even science. By fleeing instead of helping Zim, Gris did a lot more damage. She just unintentionally punched a hole into Professor Membrane's heart that could never be filled by anything ever again....

She turned and began to run from the guilt that tried to stab at her.

"Mr. Membrane, are you all right?" asked a teenager, who was standing next to the troubled professor.

"Don't you KNOW who was in there?!" Professor Membrane shouted, his knees nearly buckling in the desire to just give up... He'd already lost his wife.... So why--why--would he have his children taken away too? I should've at least told Dib I loved him..... At least once....

"I-it's okay, Professor," the teen sighed. "I lost my uncle in the war between us and the Middle East. I know how it feels."

It's not the same, Membrane wanted to wail, but he held his tongue and rested his hand on the teen's shoulder, shifting to the self-assured, determined posture he so often faked. "That's quite all right, boy. I'm sure my wise young children decided to go in the safe room located in the basement." Do they even KNOW about that?! ... Of course they don't--didn't. I never told them. I always said stay out of the lab unless it's serious...

"Well, go tell the firemen to look in there, then," the teen stated, gesturing toward the firefighters.

"I was just about to do that..." Honestly, Professor Membrane was not just about to tell them, knowing there was no hope in the survival of his children, but he couldn't back out now...
