the next day...

I woke up groaning at the sun peaking through curtains. I didn't want to get up, It didn't feel like it was even worth it. But I had to. Someone was knocking at my door.

I rolled out of my bed, falling hard onto the floor, hurting myself. Whoever was at the door better had been worth it.

I finally reached the door and opened it. There was a very miniature man dressed up in a suit at the door. "Are you A-A-v-a-e-" He struggled to pronounce my whilst reading it on what seemed to be and envelope.

"Avi. Yes that's me" I interjected, correcting him on the pronunciation of my name.

"Thank goodness, I've been walking up and down these hallways looking you. All whilst breaking a sweat.." He rambled on. "Anyway, this is for you" He handed me the envelope in his hand. I felt slightly heavy. "Enjoy your day, Sir" And with that, he left.

I closed the door and sat down on my couch. I slowly began to rip the envelope open. I pulled out a folded piece of paper that was in the envelope. I picked it up and read it.

Dear Avriel Kaplan,

We do cordially invite you to the reunion of the class of '09 in college. It is to allow all of us to catch up after all these years. Maybe to even become friends again.

I could feel fear consume my body after reading. College was not a great place for me at all.

It was where I had finally discovered myself. It was also where my life turned for the worst. It was the peak of my down fall.

There was a girl who liked me. Her name was Madison. She wasn't subtle about it at all. She would drop her pen in front of me, supposedly showing off her "assets" to me. I rejected her because there was someone else in my mind. That persons name was Justin. (a/n: not the Justin you're thinking of)

He was so attractive. He was a jock. Captain of one of the many sports teams in the college. I would see him and swoon. Unfortunately, Madison and him were friends. Madison knew I liked Justin.
She manipulated him. She made him and I become acquainted. She made him take me to a frat party. She made him take advantage of me. She made him
and his friends take advantage of me and humiliate me. She ruined my life.

I continued to read the letter and saw that it was being held today. I knew I shouldn't even think of going but maybe everyone would've forgotten about what happened 7 years ago.

Hopefully.

I am yours. {#Wattys2016}Where stories live. Discover now
