(Lily's POV)
Next week is prom week and this whole week was just Evan telling me how much he is sorry. Everyday he comes up to me, gives me a kiss on the forehead or the cheek and tells me he is deeply sorry. I giggle each time because its adorable but I always say that I forgive him, then he complains that he knows I am still upset.
Today I am with Sofia and Craig, we are eating lunch at our usual table and we are waiting on the others. Sofia was telling me how happy she is to be with Tyler. I am glad she is getting treated right, we both are.
"Hey you loners!" Jonathan yells from the entrance and comes towards us. By his side was Evan and Brock. I smile at them and Evan walks straight towards me and sits next to me.
"Lily, I know I am saying this for the hundredth million time but I am sincerely sorry." Evan says as he grabs my hand and kisses it, making me giggle.
"Evan, you need to calm down okay, I said I forgive you. Why can't you accept it?" I say and Evan chuckles.
"I know but, I just feel really horrible for ignoring you for that long. I can never forgive myself for what I have done." Evan says and I smile. I plant a soft kiss on his cheek and he calms down.
"You better now?" I say and Evan nods his head and we put our foreheads against each other and just stayed like that. I am happy with him and I know he is happy with me.
"Can you two just stop being cute for one second? I am trying to eat." Jonathan says as he munches on a grilled cheese sandwich. Me and Evan chuckle and we both started eating our food. Tyler, David, Brian and Marcel soon came after. Later, Lui came from a soccer meeting. We all sat together as we chatted our hearts out.
[Skip to after school because why not :P]
"Hey Lil! Wanna hang out later?" Sofia asks me as we walk together with the guys close behind. I look at her and shake my head.
"I have hw to do and a mother to see so I can't, maybe next time." I say and she playfully pushes me. I look at her a give her a weak smile.
"You are always stuck at home now, why is that?" Sofia asks and I scoff at her question.
"We are seniors now Sofi which makes us have more priorities like, what are we gonna do in the future? How is our life gonna turn out once school is done? Am I going to college? I have a lot of questions in my head, you should start thinking too." I say and she laughs at me.
"Wow Lil, I never think about it that much. You took it a little too deep." I giggle at her response and sigh. I look back at the guys and spot Evan as he smiles a breathtaking smile.
"I may have an idea to what my future can be." I say and looked up at Sofia. She looks down at me and pats my head.
"Hey! Just because I am shorter doesn't mean you can rub my head like a little kid." I whine and she giggles.
"You sure act like one though." She says and I laugh. We slowly approach my doorstep and I look back at the guys and Sofia.
"Thanks for the walk again guys, see ya tomorrow." I say and I soon feel a strong grip around me.
"Take care Lil." Evan whispers in my ear which sends me shivers. I hug him back and sigh into his neck. I feel him breath steadily against my ear and he soon parts from me. I wave at him and the rest goodbye then turn to open my door.
As I walk in, I wasn't watching to where I was going and I didn't notice the empty beer bottle. I stepped on it and slipped. I fell on my bottom and let out a groan.
"Fucking prick..." I whisper as I slowly stand up and pick up the empty bottles then set them in a trash bag. I look at the couch and see that my dad isn't on it as usual. I walk towards my mothers room and slowly open the door. I expected him to be in here but he wasn't though my heart stops at the view of my mothers room.
Everything was misplaced, her mirror broken, glass everywhere on the dresser, the drawers opened with clothes spilling out, the bed a mess and the wall ruined. I walk into the room and cover my mouth in shock. My beloved mothers room was now destroyed by the one man that destroyed my life from the beginning.
I walk up to the shattered mirror and see that there was a picture of me and my mother on the drawer, but it wasn't touched. I grab it and stare at my mother who was smiling and me, doing a silly face. I grab the picture and set it in my bag.
I walk out of the room that was filled with so many memories and was soon destroyed. I close the door gently and look down the hall to my room. I open my door and was hoping that he wasn't in my room. I peek inside and see that it was empty. I sigh in relief knowing that my room has lived another day.
Once I was ready, I walked out of my humble home and shut the front door. I made my way down the street and into the city. I walked towards the bench and waited patiently for the bus. It arrived after 11 minutes and I got in, sat in the back by myself and watched the world move before me.
I made it to the hospital and reached the entrance of the building. I ask for the room number and they tell me that she is in the same room from last time.
I walk down the quiet halls that were soon filled with coughing from other patients and metal hitting. The hospital wasn't as busy as usual and since its daytime, the sun would break through some windows which made the hospital seem less dark.
I approach the room 240 and gently open the door. My mother looks up from a book and smiles at me. I return the smile and approach her, giving her a soft hug. She plants a kiss on my cheek and it made me remember everything we did together.
"How's my loving daughter? Has Evan been behaving around you? Has your father done anything to you?" She starts asking and I giggle. Few weeks ago, I told my mom about everything that has been happening when she was out. She started crying when I told her about my dad and I felt bad.
"I am doing great mom, yes Evan has been behaving, and no my dad hasn't done anything to me, though I did slip on one of his empty beer bottles." I say and my mother sighs in annoyance.
"That father of yours just doesn't know when to quit, but I am glad you're all better." She says and sets her hand on my cheek. I let out a sigh of relief as I felt my mom's, smooth hand on me. Then I remembered the picture.
"Here mom, I thought you would want this with you, I found it in your room and you wouldn't like how the monster known as my father had ruined everything in it." I say as I pass the picture towards her. She smiles and I see her grow sad. She looks at me and I see a tear roll down her cheek.
"Oh Lily, thank you so much. I am surprised that he hasn't touched this precious memory." She looks back down at the picture and sighs. I sit back on my chair and pull out my binder so I can start my homework.
In the middle of my math assignment my mother touches my arm as it was against the small desk that was close by her.
"Lily, I would like to say that I am sorry for not being there for you when you needed me, you know how your father can get and life can hit you hard. Just know that I am not always gonna be around." When she says that, I immediately know where she is going with this. A tear slides down my cheek and I reach for her hand.
"Mom, please don't say that..." She sets another hand on top of my hand and smiles. I feel my mouth quiver as I watch her gentle smile disappear.
"Lily, you gotta stay strong, for me. Like I said before, I am sorry but this apology is for a different reason. The doctors tell me that I am doing so much better but I know the day will come when I pass." I grip her hand and she pats it. I silently let a sob out and looked down.
"Just don't be mad at me when I leave this place, I will always be there for you." She pulls me towards her and plants a kiss on my forehead.
"Always Remember my sweet Lilian, I will always be there by your side, holding you, letting you know that you aren't alone."
