Chapter 26: Gradutation

(Lily's POV)

I was sleeping peacefully in my warm bed until I hear faint giggling and footsteps. I soon felt something settle on my shoulder and shake me lightly. I didn't bother to open my eyes because I already knew who it was.

"Lily. . .Lily, wake up. Time to get ready for today." I hear my aunt say softly as she shakes me awake. I groan and bury myself in my bed.

"Lilian Hernandez, you need to get ready, today is special day." I sigh and gave in to my aunts wake up call. I rub my eyes and when I open them, my mouth dropped open at the view of balloons and flower necklaces.

"Aunt Lupe. . .y-you didn't have to get me all this." I say as I stand up to get a better view of the gifts my aunt brought me.

"Uh, I believe she got some help from me." My uncle says from behind the cloud of balloons. I walk around them and there he was, holding my cap and gown. I smile at him and turn to look at my aunt.

"Alright, let me get ready." I grab the white, strapless dress my aunt and I got at the store a couple days ago, and the crème colored heels. [Pic above.]

I went into the bathroom and started dressing myself with the fancy attire. When I finished dressing, I pinned the left side of my hair flat down and fixed all of my hair to the right side of my face. I did light make up again, simple eye shadow that matched my outfit, mascara and clear lip gloss.

I look at myself in the mirror and smile. Today is the day I graduate and the rest is left for me to figure out. As I continued to look as myself in the mirror, questions started flooding my head.

How is the future gonna be like?

Will my friends be there with me?

Will I have the future I have been wishing for?

I shake my head and the thoughts ran out. I need to think about the present and enjoy the day. The future is nothing to worry about at the moment.

"Lily, are you ready?" I hear my uncle say. I look at myself one last time and I step out of the bathroom. My aunt and uncle stared at me with awe.

"Oh my god Lily, you look beautiful." My aunt Lupe says and hugs me tightly. I look up at my uncle and he joins in on the hug. I sigh as I felt the familiar warmth of being loved. Though one thing was missing, my mom.

"I wonder how my mom would've reacted if she saw me like this." I say and we part, my aunt sets a hand in my cheek and I look down at her.

"She is probably crying from seeing how big her daughter has gotten, she is one proud mother." My uncle says and I smile.

"Alright! We need to take pictures of you like this and with your gown and trust me when I say this, I am not letting a single moment go by without a picture." Me and my uncle laugh at my aunts excitement and I knew that it was gonna be a long morning.

I walk towards the football field with my aunt and uncle close behind, each minute my aunts camera could be heard from taking a picture of my every move and I roll my eyes.

"Lily!" I hear the familiar voice of my best friend. I look to my left and there she was running towards me. I smile excitedly and hugged her tightly.
