Chapter 21: Gone

(Lily's POV)

My heart was aching, my head was spinning with so many questions, and my eyes were like waterfalls by now as I was running towards the hospital.

I can't believe this. . .Why me? Why on one of the worst days possible? I can't, not my sweet mom.

As I made it towards the entrance of the hospital, I notice a familiar face.

"Lily, oh my god. . ." I was stuck in my Uncle Kevin's embrace. I wanted to cry but I didn't want them to see my soft side. I look around and almost all my aunt's, uncle's and cousins were here.

"Lily! I am so glad you're okay." My aunt Lupe says as she hugs me. The rest of my mom's family come and give me a hug, telling me that everything is gonna be okay. I know it's not. . .The person I loved the most has passed away and nobody can change that.

A doctor came and my Uncle Kevin was talking to him. By the looks of Kevin's face, it shows that it wasn't very good news. Kevin turns around to look at me then back at the doctor. The doctor looks at me and starts to walk towards me.

"Are you Lily?" The doctor asks me and I nod. He extends his hand and I look at Kevin. He nods for me to go with him. I grab the doctor's hand and he starts leading me to somewhere. I suddenly know where the doctor is taking me. . .he is taking me to see my mom.

We were standing at the door to her room and I felt myself start to shake. The doctor opens the door and there was my mom's motionless body, covered by a blanket. The doctor pats my shoulder and I slowly start to walk towards her covered body.

"M-Mom?. . ." I say and as I was right next to the bed where she laid, I pull the blanket a bit to uncover her pale hand. I slowly touch her hand and it was cold. I grip it tightly and pulled it towards my face but then I started crying, from her touch. I can hear the doctor calling for someone and that someone was my Uncle Kevin.

He came to my aid and hugged me, making me let go of my mom's comforting hand. He started rubbing my back as I cried against his chest.

"I know Lily, I know how much it hurts. . ." He whispered in my ear as he stroked my hair. I felt like I was crying for an hour but after ten minutes I calmed down. Me and my uncle walked out and we went downstairs with the rest of my family.

"Who are you living with right now Lil?" My aunt Lupe asks and I sigh.

"My. . .dad." Both my aunt Lupe and my uncle Kevin looked at each other with shock.

"Me and your aunt have been talking and we thought that we can stay with you until you're able to move out, your 17 right?" Kevin asks me and I nod. It's like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

As everyone of my family leaves, I was with my Aunt Lupe and Uncle Kevin. They were talking on their own about something and I was sitting patiently on one of the chairs. I was texting Sofia.

Lily, I am so sorry about everything. At least you're okay now.

I sigh as I remember everything that has happened.

Evan has left my life, my mom passes away. . .Damn, my life is just full of surprises.

"You ready to go?" Kevin asks me and I nod as I grab my bag then setting my phone inside of it. We walked outside and entered my uncle Kevin's car. We drove to my house and I had a bad feeling about this.

As I unlock the door, I spot my dad in the kitchen. When he see's me come in he had an angry look on his face but when he saw my aunt and uncle come in with me, his face turned from angry to shock.

"Hello Carlos, how have you been? Lily here told me and my sister h throughout the ride that you have been abusing her, is that right?" Kevin says and my dad stays silent.

"Why would you even dare touch my niece when she has been going through a whole lot already?" Lupe joins in on the argument. My dad soon starts to walk towards us with an angry look.

"You have no right to tell me what to do!?" My dad says and my uncle pushes my behind him.

"When it comes to someone hurting my niece, then it's my problem now so pack up your shit and take your drunk ass out of here." My uncle yells back at him and my dad punches him. Me and my aunt gasps and my dad tries to grab me but was soon tackled by my uncle. My aunt pulls out her phone and calls the police and I tried to stop my uncle.

As the police came, they handcuffed my dad and he started resisting.

"Lilian, when I get my hands on you, I swear I am gonna break you!" My dad yells but the police were yelling at him. A policeman came up to me, Lupe and Kevin with a notebook.

"We will have him in the prison for the rest of his life so you won't have to worry about him." The officer tells us and I sigh.

"We won't worry about him trust me." I say out of the blue and the officer looks at me.

"Why is that?" I look at him then down at my feet.

"I never saw him as a father." I say and the policeman nods understanding. He pats my head and waves us goodbye.

We closed the door as we saw the red and blue lights disappear. Me, Lupe and Kevin look at eachother and smile.

"Let's make this place look like home." Lupe says and we all started cleaning.

I went into my room and sighed in relief. I sit down on the edge of my bed and look through my phone. I went to my galleries and saw the picture of me and my mom. . .it was the last day I saw her and it was an moment. I giggle at the two picture we took together, the silly one and the one with me kissing her cheek.

"Those are cute pictures. . ." I jump at the sound of my uncle Kevin and he chuckles.

"Sorry Lily, didn't mean to scare you, I came in to ask what you wanted for dinner." I sigh and look at him.

"I miss her. . ." I say and he pats my shoulder.

"We all miss her Lil. . .how about tomorrow, when you come home from school, we will go to the store and print these pictures out for you." He says and I look at him with glee then smile.

"Thanks Kevin. . .I would love that." He sets his hand on my hand and ruins my hair.

"Well, let's go out to eat, Lupe is almost done tidying up the place." He walks towards the door and I follow him.

I know this is the start of a new home life but it isn't home without my mom. I walk outside and gasp at the view of a clean house. I walk in the living room and saw a picture of me and my mom. I smile as I grab the picture frame and stared at the lovely picture.

I am home and she isn't gone, she is here. . .with us, watching over us, watching over. . .
