Before Josh went to bed he told his mom, and Tyler, about Jennifer sleeping here. He didn't want them to go downstairs and freak out from her being there.
They were just waking up and Joan was the first one downstairs. When she walked into the living room, she saw Jennifer sitting up and watching the news. She adjusted when Joan stepped fully in the room.
"Good morning." She said awkwardly. Joan only waved as she was in the middle of a yawn.
"You want some coffee?" Joan asked, walking past her to get to the kitchen. Luckily, Josh had cleaned up the glass earlier so her feet were protected.
"Uh, yeah, please. Thanks." She replied, following Joan.
"So Josh told me what you were going to do today." Jennifer looked at Joan with confusion. "Talk to Tyler?"
"Oh yeah! Sorry I just have a lot of things on my mind."
"Oh, no worries. I think it's a great thing. Don't get me wrong, having him here is a blessing. He's a great kid." Joan smiled proudly, handing Jennifer the fresh, hot coffee.
"He is... I'm just nervous. I know I'm not the greatest person and I really pissed him off but, I want to make things right between us." Jennifer said, sipping her coffee.
"Yeah. I'm sure he's missed you."
"So I've been told." Joan just shrugged and began to take out some of the traditional breakfast foods. Jennifer helped her make it this morning, that was the least she could do.
It had to be at least ten before the boys actually came down stairs. They'd been up since about eight-thirty but decided to share some "alone time" with each other.
"Helloo everyone!" Tyler sang in his early, raspy morning voice. Josh chuckled, wrapping his arms around his waist from behind.
"Ty, it's too early for this." He whined.
"Aw, no it's not, baby. It's ten-fifteen!" Tyler said, reaching up to kiss his boyfriend but was stopped.
"Hey! No PDA in the kitchen!" Joan said, jokingly. Jennifer stood in the background and watched how happy they were. She missed those days with her son.
"It's okay, Ty." Josh turned away from him in order to taunt his mom. "That's why we have a door to my bedroom." Joan hit her son's arm.
"Josh!" Tyler and Joan said in unison. They both laughed their heads off and Jennifer was in the corner laughing, too. Now she really liked her son's boyfriend. Josh finished laughing and rolled his head to the side, spotting Jennifer in he process.
"Oh, shoot! Good morning, Jenni- Ms. Joseph." Jennifer smiled and waved while Tyler watched from aside.
"Would you like to come over and join us?"
"No, that's okay. I'm just going to get dressed then I'll be out of your hair." She left the room before anyone could say anything.
"You know, Tyler. You need to go and talk to her. She wants to make amends." Joan said. Josh agreed and Tyler nodded, getting up from his seat and chasing after his mom.
"Mom." He called out, before she could step into the bathroom.
"Hi, Tyler.." She spun around.
"Hey. They told me you wanted to make up and stuff." Tyler mumbled.
"Yes, yes I do." She said eagerly. "I'm sorry, Tyler. I just want to be a good mom for you and, I know I messed up bad, but I just really want fix it." Tyler didn't say anything for a while, making Jennifer speak up again. "Listen, I really did miss you, Tyler. And I didn't want to leave but Tom forced me and you know how he gets. He convinced me you weren't normal... But you are. And you're my son. And I just want my son to love me again..."
"I do love you, mom. But you didn't do anything when dad kicked me out. Do you know how much that hurt? You sat there while I was being kicked out of my own home."
"I know, I know and I'm sorry. But I couldn't do anything and you know that."
"No, I know that, instead of finally standing up for yourself and me, you chose to sit there and take the bull he always fed to you."
"Tyler,"
"No, mom. Don't apologize. You got away from him and I'm proud of you for that. I'll give you another chance but there's one thing." Tyler finished. Jennifer couldn't be happier.
"Anything!" She squealed, tears swelling in her eyes.
"I want to stay with Josh... I know it makes sense for me to go with you but, mom, I really love him. And we're juniors now, I want to be with him, you know?" By now Jennifer's tears were streaming down her cheeks as she nodded, pulling Tyler in for a tight hug.
"That's fine, Tyler. Thank you so much. Just, thank you." Tyler smiled widely.
"I missed you, mom. I always have." He quivered.
"I missed you too, Tyler. And I'm not moving. Josh convinced me to stay after he told me to talk to you."
"Josh told you that?" Tyler asked, pulling back in shock.
"Yeah. You've got a good boy there. Hold on to him." Jennifer told her son, wiping her eyes.
"I know..." Tyler smiled to himself. "You get dressed. I'll be downstairs." He told her, walking towards the stairs and venturing to the kitchen.
When he got there, Joan had just finished cleaning up and left to go upstairs, leaving Josh and him alone.
"Hey, cutie. How'd everything go?" Josh said. He had just been sitting there thinking.
"It well well! Uh, she's gonna stay here since you influenced her." He told Josh, proudly. He slipping his arms around Josh's next and sat on his lap. Josh chuckled.
"I do have something to ask you though..."
"What is it?" Josh asked, tightening his grip so Tyler wouldn't fall off.
"Do you mind if I still stay here? I want to stay with you..." Tyler looked down with embarrassment.
"Of course I don't mind, Ty." He lifted Tyler's chin with his finger. He wanted to ask Tyler about his past but felt now wasn't such a good time and said something else instead. "I love you."
"I love you too, Joshy." Tyler grinned, crashing his lips with Josh's soft ones.
Jennifer left for her new apartment around two but had spent her time catching up with Tyler. She couldn't believe how much he'd grown as a person and physically. She'd like to take credit for raising a good kid but she felt most of the credit had to go to Josh and Joan. She wasn't even there for him when she was but, boy, was she glad he had them to look out for him.
