CHAPTER TWENTY-ONE

LANA SADLY smiled. Nakatanaw siya sa labas ng glass window ng opisina niya sa Big Hopes, when she remembered, again, the first and last time she gave all of her to the man she ever loved.

Young and so inlove back then, after that intimate moment with Reeve, they plan to get married right after college, talked about exploring the world together, have children, grandchildren, great grandchildren... and they would grow old together.

Pa'no kaya kung hindi siya naging mahina at nagalit sa Diyos nang malaman niyang malubha na ang sakit niya at nadagdag pa ang katotohang matagal na tinago sa kanya ng mga inaakala niyang mga magulang? Siguro, kasal na sila ni Reeve ngayon at may mga makukulit na anak na rin.

Hindi lumipas ang isang araw na hindi naiisip iyon ni Lana. But, things already happened.

Natigil ang tahimik na pag-iisip ni Lana nang may marinig siyang pagkatok sa kanyang pintuan.

"Come in," she said.

The door opened and she was surprised to see Agatha.

"Agatha! Ikaw pala," aniya.

"Hi, Lana. Sorry, I came here without notice."

"It's okay. Please, take a sit," she offered.

"Thank you," umupo ito sa isa visitor's chair na nasa tapat ng office desk niya. "Anyway, how are you?"

"Oh, I'm doing fine. Nagiging sobrang busy na rin dahil sa turn-over sa'kin ng position ni Mom," aniya na tinutukoy ang ina ni Prince na tinuring din niyang ina dahil sobrang pagmamahal ang natanggap niya rito kahit hindi siya nito tunay na anak. "Prince is helping. Pero mas priority niya ang AC. Ikaw ang dapat na kinakamusta ko. I heard you got sick. How are you feeling now?"

"I'm okay now. Tatlong araw lang akong nagkasakit. Overfatigued, sabi ng doktor. I kept on drinking medicines and vitamins, though. Magagalit kasi si Reeve kapag hindi ako uminom."

Tumangu-tango siya. "That's great. So, what do you want us to discuss something?"

Agatha smiled. "I believe, alam mo na na nagka-ayos na sina Reeve at Prince."

"Yes," she answered.

Her brother Prince already told her na ayos na ito at si Reeve. She's glad to know that the friendship she once ruined was back and she's also pleased to know that Reeve was ready and open to face his pasts.

Hindi na siya magtataka kung pa'no nangyari iyon. With a sweet, understanding, and loving wife like Agatha, any man could learn to open and soften his hardest heart.

"Reeve needs to talk with you," Agatha said.

She sighed. "Yeah..."

"Is it okay if ngayon na?"

"Huh?" gulat na wika niya. "As in, now? Right at this moment?"

She softly laughed. "Kung okay lang sa'yo."

Napalunok siya at humahon ang kaba sa dibdib niya. "A-Ah... Okay lang naman. Nagulat lang ako kasi agad-agad."

"Are you sure?"

She calmed herself then nodded.

Agad itong tumayo at lumabas ng pinto. Naiwang nakabukas ang pinto kaya naman hindi niya mapigilang sumilip sa labas.

She saw Reeve. Hawak ni Agatha ang dalawang kamay nito at tila hinihila papasok ng opisina niya. Reeve looked nervous, too. But, he smiled after , when Agatha said something to him.
