Maura smiled as she unpacked her final box. She had done nothing but unpack herself since the moment she had arrived in Boston. With her always having everything in place, a bunch of unpacked boxes around the house drove her crazy. Plus she couldn't go into work until six am anyway, so what else was she going to do? Suddenly her phone rang, making her very silent house echo with the loud ringtone."Dr.Isles." She said answering curtly.
"Dr. Isles this is, Lieutenant Sean Cavanaugh with Boston Police Department, I was just calling to make sure your plane arrived safely and everything was settled."
"Yes sir, I am all settled in and ready for tomorrow morning."
"Well about that, we would like for you to come in now if it's available. This case could use all the help we can get." Maura thought this over, did she have the energy? She hadn't slept yet. Of course she didn't want her new boss or coworkers to dislike her.
"Yes sir, I'm on my way sir."
"Thank you very much, Dr.Isles."
"Of course." Maura smiled before ending the call. She got changed into a nice dress with heels and grabbed her purse and keys. She stopped by a place called 'Boston Joe's', a place she remembers coming to as a teenager, mostly with Jane. As much as she was excited for the job, she was still nervous. She had never been good with engaging in conversation with new people, and she was worried she wouldn't be liked by her new coworkers. She pulled into an unmarked parking space and got out. Her heels clicked as she walked towards the building.
"May I help you?" An officer asked her as she walked in.
"Yes, I'm Dr. Maura Isles, new chief medical examiner."
"Oh yes!" The officer smiled. "Here you go Doctor. Lieutenant Cavanaugh would like you to come to his office first." The man said handing her everything she would need; such as her medical ID badge.
"Thank you." Maura smiled taking the badge from the gentleman and going upstairs.
"Excuse me." She stopped an older man. "Can you please show me where Lieutenant Cavanaugh's offices is?"
"You must be Dr.Isles, I'm Sargent Vince Korsak." He said reaching his hand out.
"Maura." Maura smiled. "Maura Isles."
"Nice to meet you Maura, Cavanaugh's office is that way." Korsak pointed towards a door. "You'll see the name."
"Thank you Sargent." Maura nodded politely and walked towards the door. At least she had met one friendly face, Sargent Korsak had been very nice. Before Maura knew it she was at the door.
Lieutenant Sean Cavanagh
She took a deep breath before knocking on the door and politely waiting for the 'come in.' When it came she slowly opened the door and walked in. The man at the desk stood up and outstretched his hand.
"You must be Maura."
"Indeed, hello Lieutenant Cavanaugh." She smiled shaking his hand. She did her best to hide her nervousness.
"Come on, I'll introduce you to the homicide department and then show you where you'll be downstairs and your office."
"Sounds good." Maura nodded and followed the man outside.
