"So." Korsak said looking at Jane from his desk."So?" Jane asked confused.
"So did you tell her?"
"What are you talking about?" Jane asked, still confused.
"Jane did you tell Maura that you were-"
"Hush!" Jane said, desperately trying to shush the elder detective she highly respected. "Korsak please, I don't know how." Jane said defeated.
"Jane." Korsak sighed, rolling his chair over to her desk. "I think it'll be easier if you just come out and say it."
"Why are pushing me to tell her so hard?" Jane asked and Korsak went quiet.
"Knock knock." Korsak said as he lightly rapped his knuckles on Maura's open office door."Ah, good morning Sargent, come in come in, have a seat." Maura smiled, ushering him in.
"Good morning Dr.Isles." Korsak said coming in and sitting in one of the plush chairs.
"How may I help you today?" Maura asked, closing her laptop to focus on her guest.
"I was actually wondering if I could talk to you about Jane." He said and tried to skip the fact that Maura tensed.
"Is she okay?" She asked concerned.
"She's fine. A few days ago she told me you guys used to be inseparable best friends."
"Yeah." Maura nodded. "We were best friends when I was in tenth grade, she was in twelfth fixing to graduate."
"Yes that's what she said." Korsak nodded.
"I'm sorry I mean no disrespect but what is this about?" She asked.
"Pardon my bluntness, but were you in love with her?" He asked and Maura almost chocked on her saliva.
"W-what? Sargent I-."
"It's fine Maura." He said. "It's not like me to do something like this."
"Then why are you?" Maura asked, but not in a rude way.
"Because I can see it in the way you look at her. She cares about you a lot. If you're in love with her, tell her." Korsak said.
"I don't think Jane feels the same." Maura said. "I couldn't handle her leaving again." Maura said the last part more quietly, but he herd.
"What do you mean? If you don't mind my asking." He said leaning up.
"We were inseparable Sargent, always together. We were best friends. When she went off to college we never talked again, ever. It broke me Vince, it literally broke me. I was sixteen and in love with someone three years older than me, a girl who wasn't gay. I was in love with 'The Jane Rizzoli'" Maura said and chuckled darkly. "She was a big shot in our high school, half the school was in love with her, the other half had a crush on her. People would get so jealous when we hung out, she'd blow people off for me and I would get dirty looks. It didn't bother me though because I knew Jane had my back. When she graduated...everything fell apart. Nothing was ever the same." Maura admitted and then dabbed at her eyes. "I'm sorry."
