Jane walked into the BPD and went straight to her desk. Korsak watched as she sat in the chair and started working without saying a single hello. "Jane."Jane looked up at Korsak. "Hi." She said but her voice broke. "Sorry."
"It's fine." He rolled his chair up to Jane's desk. "How did last night go?"
"I tried Korsak." She whispered, trying not to cry. "I tried so hard but it ended in me getting kicked out."
Korsak decided one of the saddest things he had ever seen was Jane, big tough detective Jane, trying to not to cry over love. Even Jane broke down.
"How?""I didn't get to tell her, I didn't get to explain." Jane said looking up with tears in her eyes. "I started to tell her but when she realized I knew at graduation that I was fixing to shut her out she got angry. Which of course I don't blame her, but I just wish I could've explained. I didn't get to tell her why."
"Then go tell her now." Korsak said. "We closed a case yesterday and we haven't had one yet."
"I don't want her making a scene in the morgue." Jane sighed. "I don't want all of those people to know yet."
"Jane, you need to talk to her." Korsak said. "Not only do you guys have a special connection, you work together and you can't let this become between your work."
"I know you're right." Jane sighed and stood up.
"Good morning Jane." Frost said coming and sitting at his desk. "Where are you going?"
"Morning Frost." She took her jacket off and sat it on the back of her chair. "To the morgue."
Jane felt sick the entire elevator ride down to Maura's floor. When she got down there she found Susie.
"Hey Susie, do you know where Dr.Isles is?" She asked the busy assistant.
"In her office." Susie nodded toward the closed door.
"Thanks." Jane said walking to the door and knocking.
"Come in." She walked in and Maura's face instantly grew hard. "I didn't know it was you."
"I know." Jane said shutting the door. "Or you wouldn't of said come in." She could tell Maura had been crying a lot, and it broke her that she caused that.
"It goes against my better judgement Detective, but you're right." Maura nodded turning back to her computer screen.
"Maura please let me explain."
"I don't have time for this right now Jane." Maura said.
"Then I'll make it fast." Jane said sitting down in a chair.
"No you won't. Look Jane, if you came here to make me feel guilty go ahead. I spent months and months crying over you, I was sensitive and you knew it. You knew my biggest fear and you still left."
"Let me tell you why." Jane started.
"I don't want to know why." Maura said glaring at her. "I want you to get out of my office.
"I won't." Jane said stubbornly. "I won't leave."
"Fine," Maura said standing up. "I will leave."
She didn't get far before Jane grabbed her wrist and made Maura look at her.
"This is your office." Jane said.
"I'm aware." Maura said looking away from Jane who still had ahold of her wrist.
"Please Maura, let me explain." Jane started.
"I'm listening."
"Okay look-" Just when she started both of their phone rings. She sighed and let go of Maura's wrist.
