The doctor's words fell in the room with a powerful effect, on both Gerald and the girls with him.

"Is it bad?" Camila asked, trying her best to make her voice full with more strength, giving no sign she was on the verge of breaking down.

"I need to know before I release any information, who are you two?" The doctor asked, eyeing Lauren and Camila as if they were some kind of fans who simply snuck in and took advantage of how weak Gerald was.

"Camila and Lauren...They're both my real close friends; family if you wanna call 'em that. Whatever you gotta tell me, they can know as well." Gerald spoke up, frowning afterwards.

Clearing his throat, the doctor swallowed thickly. "Alright. I want you to know that this is treatable, and it doesn't mean you have to lack your skills in the music industry as I have been informed you perform in the rap culture side of music."

Gerald nodded, yet eager to know what was going on with him. "Give it to me straight, doc." He let out half a laugh; broken.

"You are showing signs of dilated cardiomyopathy."

"Dilated what-pathy?" Gerald asked, confused at the words the doctor informed him with.

"Dilated Cardiomyopathy. This basically means your heart is getting weaker, yet enlarging in size. Now, this isn't a major case for you, but I would like to inform you on the reasonings and preventions. The aftercare and aftermath if you decide to decline my recommendations."

"C-can you tell me why..and how to stop it?"

The doctor practically mumbled a small yes, followed by the response Gerald was asking for.

"Some signs you should have taken into consideration would be chest pain, coughing, weakness, faintness, loss of appetite, shortness of breath after doing small tasks such as laying in a bed or even swelling of ankles and feet. Your drinking did play a major part in this, Gerald."

Nodding, Gerald looked lifelessly at the wall across from him, processing everything. At this point, he wasn't angry. He wasn't upset and he wasn't even sure if he wanted the girls company anymore.

"I can step out of you want, have a moment to collect your thoughts and you can call or buzz for me once you have any questions or want to further the discussion." The doctor added, sensing the vibe in the room now since the news was delivered. And with that, the doctor nodded slightly in a soft manner, followed by exiting quietly.

"This is all complete bullshit!" Gerald spat, throwing a pillow across the room and clenching his fist.

"Hey, that's not going to do anythin-"

"Shut up, Lauren! Shut up, shut up, shut up! I'm so fucking sick of you and your little comments. I don't want to hear them anymore and if you don't mind taking your head out of your own ass for even a second you'd realize this isn't about you anymore! For fucking crying out loud I am on the verge of dying and you have the nerve to tell me what to and not to do. Fuck off!" Gerald spat, tone laced with pure anger.

"You didn't even know you would end up here, and neither did we! It's not my fault you drink your problems away instead of consulting with someone and, oh, I don't know, talking about them!"

"I don't care."

"You don't care?" Lauren scuffed, taken aback by his words. "You don't care? You don't care you're on the verge of possibly even having heart failure? What are you thinking of that's even slightly making this situation better! Please, enlighten me!"

"I just don't care, Jaregui."

"You should care, Gerald! This is your health and self at risk."

"Fuck off."

"That's just you, huh? Mr. Fuck you, I don't care what you think of me, even the slightest bit? Mr. I get girls and rap, so that makes me a better person?" Mr. Reckless, Mr. Does whatever the hell he wants?!"

He rolled his eyes, scuffing at the comment. "Fuck off, I don't care what you think of me at all."

Gerald's eyes shifted to make eye contact with the blank wall, staring into nothing.

Moments passed and before anyone could even manage to think of something to say, Camila broke the silence. "Lauren, you can go. I will stay here with Gerald and make sure he's okay. By the morning he should be fine and we can switch places."

He shifted his eyes to look at Camila, then spoke again. "I just want to be alone. Don't check up on me overnight or stay or whatever the hell you were getting at. Just..both of you, leave."

"What? Gerald, please! Trust me, you're being ridiculous. We just got informed that your heart is enlarged, we can't just lea-"

"Camila! Gerald wants us to give him some privacy. Clearly he doesn't want someone who surprisingly cares about him to be with him, so let's go."

Looking down, Camila blinked rapidly, trying her best to see clearly due to the tears filling her eyes, and tried her best to wrap her mind around everything that was happening. Gerald's heart can possibly never be the same; so enlarged and fragile. If she only took better care for him, watched out for him whenever she could.

The girls made their way out of the room, leaving Gerald to a room with himself and his thoughts. As they walked out of the hospital, nothing but silence was shared between the two. What was there to discuss? Their friend was in the hospital and they were able to do nothing about it. Nothing about this situation made sense to either one of them, yet their only option was to suck it up and realize this isn't about them anymore; Gerald and his health is at risk.

Slipping into the car, conversation was still being lacked until they stopped at a red light and Lauren cleared her throat. "We can stay at the nearest hotel, so we are able to visit him whenever we want."

Camila didn't have any words. Gerald didn't even want her to be with him, after everything she's been through with him not even one lousy hour watching Gerald would happen.

"Whatever you want." She mumbled, eyes glued to the outside world transparent from the glass.

Lauren nodded, then proceeded with pulling into a hotels parking lot.

"I don't understand." Camila mumbled, sighing.

Still, no one said a word. It was almost as if the words had been knocked out of them; leaving them completely speechless.

Entering the hotel was dreadful. Too many questions, too much movement. Camila couldn't handle it, so she left Lauren to do all the paperwork and movement. She simply sat down in the lobby trying to distract her mind from something dragging her down.

Camila knew this was going to become a long night, so she then practically threw herself onto the bed and struggled to cover herself with the blanket. "Night." She mumbled, feeling nothing but horrendous.
