Coming home from visiting Gerald was even worse than coming back to him once she encountered Devon.
"Lauren, are you home?" Camila asked, unlocking the front door and sighing. "Listen, I know I've been an asshole lately but I wanted to talk to you, I need some advice. Lauren, I need you to be my friend again. I need you back. I don't want you to feel like I shut you out because that's not true the only thing I've done was try to sort my feelings out and my emotions and everything in between. Lauren, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Taking a step more into the room, Camila set her belongings down and sighed. Seeing Devon made Camila realize how much of an asshole she's been towards Lauren because of her. She missed Lauren and the friendship they once had, and the fact they sort of live together now was tearing her apart. Tears began to fill Camila's eyes, causing her to sniffle and let out a muffled cry.
Sure, the past couple months she's been preoccupied with Gerald, but she's been seeing him because he's the only one who makes her feel welcomed. He greets her with jokes and laughter, not stares and questions. It's not that Lauren was being rude to Camila and shutting her out as well, it's the fact they both are having mixed feelings towards each other and having to live with each other is something they didn't think to do.
Lauren may have thrown the idea at Camila, but she needed help. If it wasn't for Lauren, who knows where Camila would be right now. They need to stick together, no matter what. Living with Lauren was not terrible. It wasn't a good thing, and it wasn't a horrible thing either.
"Camz?"
"Lauren!" Camila said, wiping tears away from her eyes. "I'm here, I'm here, sorry."
"Camz, why are you crying?"
"I just keep thinking about the whole thing. We've been fighting a whole lot lately and today I saw Devon working while I was visiting Gerald and it just...it just sparked something."
"Oh, yeah, she works at Frozen World."
"We were so bitter towards each other, but that's my fault."
"No, no, it's okay. She's...different."
"Different? Lauren, I went to school with her. We all went to school with her, that's how Gerald met her in the first place."
"I don't reme-"
"Lauren, really? She was like, the popular of the popular."
"Popular of the popular, huh? Well if she's so popular, she must've been underground because I knew no such thing."
"So weird, Lauren. So, so weird."
"I didn't have any classes with her. I just thought she was someone he met and approached to us with her." Lauren replied, knitting her eyebrows together.
"Idiot." Camila half laughed, earning a chuckle from Lauren as well.
A knock came to the door, interrupting the girls laughter. "Are you expecting someone?" Camila asked, cocking her head to the side.
"No, not right now." Lauren approached the door and peeked through the hole, seeing if it was someone she knew or just a stranger.
"Fuck." She muttered breathlessly, shutting her eyes. She didn't dare turn to Camila because once she did, Camila would know who it was.
"Lauren?"
Unlocking the door, Lauren plastered a smile onto her face. "Hey, Devon."
"Devon?" Camila asked, in complete disbelief.
"Oh! Hey, Camila! I thought you'd like some frozen yogurt, so I got you some more. Chocolate okay?" She winked, flashing a smile Camila's way.
"Uh, thanks." Camila did not want to start a fight with Gerald, so the best thing to do was stay civil with Devon and try not to spark something that was completely unnecessary.
"Glad we can be friends!" Devon said cheerfully, smiling happily. "Sooo, Lauren. How about we go see a movie?"
"I wanted to stay here." Lauren replied flatly. She sure wasn't afraid to show her true colors.
"We can watch it here then!"
"Sure, whatever floats your boat."
Turning on the tv, Devon logged onto Netflix and smiled. "Grease?"
~~
Sitting down and watching Grease with Devon was probably the most uncomfortable thing Camila has ever had to do.
She found no comfort with Devon, and the fact she had to watch an entire movie with her was setting her off edge.
"I'm sorry, I have a phone call." Camila mumbled, stepping out of the flat and walking down to her car.
There was no point in staying, there was absolutely no point. Devon wasn't making Camila feel better and Lauren was just being so off. At this point, all Camila wanted was to sit alone in her car and just think.
