Wednesday - Four days later
"You want to ask Kate to prom?" Jazmine whispered loudly as she sat across from Andrew in the school library. It was finals week and the girl came to school early to study for her upcoming French final, but she didn't expect Andrew to walk through the door and ask her for advice.
"Yeah," Andrew nodded quickly before raising an eyebrow at her surprised expression, "why're you so surprised?" She shrugged and closed her French textbook.
"Don't you think it's too, I don't know, soon?" She questioned. "I mean, you still don't have your memories back, she did that to you, and then you guys aren't even solid friends yet after meeting and talking to each other at the fundraiser." The male frowned.
"Jaz," he said, "I want to take a chance. From the fundraiser, she seems like a really nice, down to earth girl. We made good conversations during the show." She nodded as she shuffled through her notes. She felt a sudden sense of deja vu as he rambled about Kate. "I know she's done horrible stuff, including erasing my memories, but she apologized for it and it was really sincere, Jaz. And - "
"Uh huh."
" - I want to get to know her from the beginning, without serum's influence. Who knows," he smiled into the distance and the girl controlled herself from laughing out loud at his expression, "maybe she's the one."
"Are you listening to yourself?" She asked through a chuckle but he shrugged.
"You know what they say," he smiled at her, "the one you're looking for may just be right in front of you." She nodded and wrote something down on her notes.
"Uh huh."
"So," he grinned and rested his arms on the table, leaning towards her, "are you gonna help me?" She blinked at him.
"Wait, what?"
"To get Kate to say yes," he clarified, "be my wingwoman." She rolled her eyes and shook her head.
"I think you can do that by yourself."
"But Jaz!"
"This is a library, Gomez," a voice quipped several feet away from them and the pair turned, "not a concert, so stop shouting."
"Erick?" The phaser's eyebrows raised in surprise while the other metahuman narrowed his eyes.
"Whatever, Larson," Andrew said and got up from his chair, "I was just leaving." Before he left, he turned to the girl and put his hands together. "Please!" He mouthed before bowing his head and walking out of the library. The phaser sighed and frowned when Erick took the empty seat in front of her.
"Lemme guess," the newcomer chuckled, "he wants to ask Kate to prom?"
"Lemme guess," she laughed, "you heard it from the other side of the library?" The male laughed but nodded.
"Maybe he's serious this time," he suggested and opened his backpack, taking out his government textbook, "and his real feelings are coming out without the help of the serum." She shrugged, eyes fixated on her notebook.
"I don't know," she started, "he thinks she's the one or something." Erick hummed, eyes scanning the contents on the table. His eyes spotted her French class textbook.
"Hey," he started, tilting his head to the side, "what's that French phrase for a strong pain you feel for wanting someone who will never want you back?" He saw her pause and furrow her brows in thought.
"La douleur exquise, I think," she said, trying her best at a French accent and failing, "why?" She tilted her head up to look at him. He shook his head, smiling carefree at her.
