"So Jazmine thinks all of this is happening because of the Gatorade Doreen gave us?" Israel said and Jazmine nodded.
"Think about it. All of this would've never happened if we never drank those Gatorades." She elaborated.
"So if what you're saying...
Caruther's park was crowd and buzzing with people that day. It was also bright and lively with multiple fireworks being set off. Many people screamed and cheered in delight whenever a set of fireworks were lit up. Along with fireworks, there was also a festival going on. People were with their families and friends just having a good time.
"Yes!" Jazmine cheered as she successfully filled up the balloon and made it pop faster than her other competitors. The game stand owner congratulated her and handed her a large purple stuffed turtle as a prize.
"No!" Melarn whined from next to her, still clutching her water gun. "I wanted that turtle!"
"Well too bad!" The phaser laughed and waved the stuffed animal in front of her face. "I won!"
"Tch," the shapeshifter rolled her eyes and dropped her water gun, "let's go play another game."
"Sore loser."
"Am not!"
"Are too!"
"Am no – ow!" Melarni yelped when two kids bumped into her. She rubbed her arm and looked at the pair. They were a boy and a girl, no older than 12 she guessed. The girl had long brown hair while the boy had short spiky brown hair. They looked nothing alike, so they were most likely not related.
"Oh!" The girl said suddenly and turned to face the two metahumans. She smiled and bowed politely. "I'm so sorry! We weren't looking!" The boy stood stiffly next to her and she put a hand to his back, making him now as well. With that, the pair smiled and ran off. In the distance, the 18 year olds can hear the girl scolding her friend. "That was your fault, Sky!"
"Me?" The boy questioned while the metahumans watched. "You were the one who wasn't looking, Rina!"
"Huh," Jazmine said and blinked, "that was weird."
"Yeah," Melarni nodded, "let's go before we miss the fireworks."
When the pair ran back to the large gathering area of the park, they immediately saw their friends and families there.
"Sorry we're late!" Jazmine apologized as she ran to her family by the benches while Melarni ran towards her parents who were sitting with Ivan and his father.
Near them were Christina and Marissa, who were sitting with their respective families. Marissa's two younger siblings were playing with her two dogs, being accompanied by David. Ivan was still trying to explain some tips and tricks to Christina, but she just waved him off and continued eating her hot dog. Andrew and Israel were playing rock paper scissors with the other guys as to who would buy the next round of cotton candy. Lisa, Erick, Kate, and Doreen were a little far away from the group because they were playing with sparklers.
"Guys!" Christina exclaimed and pointed to the sky. "The fireworks are starting!" Everyone stopped what they were doing and started watching the bright and colorful fireworks in the sky. Some people even took out their cellphones to record or take pictures of them.
As everyone watched the fireworks happily, a woman with long dark hair and red lipstick watched them from her booth near them. Her booth read Madame Zarina – The Legit Fortune Teller. She hummed peacefully as her eyes focused on the group of teens. Her eyes drifted from them to the fireworks before looking down at the face down tarot cards on the table in front of her. She picked one up with her hand looked at it.
"Hmm..." She hummed in delight. "The Tower..." She smirked and glanced back at the group of teens. "Interesting."
