Wednesday morning

"Okay," a tall male wearing basketball shorts, a T-shirt, a baseball cap, and sunglasses grunted as he put in the last duffel bag from the pile and into the trunk area of the black and white bus, "are these all the bags?"

"I think so," Marissa nodded and looked around, "I think everyone's on the bus already."

"Not yet!" Christina piped up and leaned her body out of the bus door. "There's still a couple seats that are empty."

"Huh," Coach Davis rubbed his chin and started walking towards the bus door, "let's do a roll call then." Marissa nodded and followed him into the already crowded bus. What greeted her was loud music playing in the background and loud and excited chatter from the other students, causing her to roll her eyes and groan in the process as she sat next to Christina.

"Oh relax," Christina laughed, "it'll be fun!"

"If it was just us," the elemental scoffed, "but no, we have to go with the entire senior class."

"Or what's left of it, anyway," Jazmine piped up from the seat behind them and they saw her lean her elbows on the top of the seats in a hugging motion, "speaking of which, has anyone seen Melarni?"

"Hm?" Marissa hummed with a raised eyebrow and looked in between the gap of the seat to see the empty seat next to the phaser. "Wasn't she with you?"

"Yeah," Christina nodded, "she was here earlier and dropped off her five bags." The phaser frowned and shook her head before sitting back in her seat.

"Hey! Put that away!" A frantic, feminine voice scolded and the girls turned to the back of the large bus. They saw one of the two chaperones on the trip, Mrs. McKay, hold out her hand to the male teenager. "Vaping is banned from the bus, and the trip!" She made a 'come on' gesture with her hand. "So cough it up," she turned to look at the other teenagers in the back, "and that goes for all of you!" They hears angry but resigned groans of protest before turning in their vapes.

"Poor Mrs. McKay," Marissa sighed and rested her elbow on the windowsill before resting her cheek on her fist, "she deserves better."

"She really does," the telepath agreed with a laugh, "she's an awesome teacher though, so I'm glad she agreed to chaperone."

"Hey," Jazmine felt her seat shake and turned to see Daniel and Rogelio looking down at her from the top of her seat, "have you seen Ivan?" The phaser shook her head.

"Have you seen Melarni?" The males shook their head.

"Hey look," Israel called from across the walkway from his seat next to Gabriel, "I found the lovebirds." He pointed to Daniel's window and the trio turned to see the two metahumans walking towards the bus. They were holding hands and had matching giddy expressions on their faces. Ivan had a large grin while Melarni looked pink.
