  Dean's P.O.V

All I could do was stare at her on the floor. Her eyes were wide in fear and anger, hands raised to stop us coming closer. I felt tears start to stream down my face. What have I done. I hurt her, beat her, and I didn't believe her when she told the truth. How could I not see it? I have known Kat all my life, I taught her how to ride a bike, how to drive...I watched her grow and I didn't even know it was her. I felt broken, tore apart but I know the pain I'm feeling is nothing compared to hers.

"Come on. We gotta find a phone, call the police."Sam finally said through the silence. His voice was tense like he was fighting tears.

"You're gonna put an APB out on-"My voice was breaking from the tears so I cleared my throat."On Katherine and I?"

Sam slouched slightly."You're right. We're not gonna do that." Kat struggled to stand up and her face consorted in pain. She let out a big shaky breath through clenched teeth and began to walk."Dean I....I don't think that we're gonna be okay. Not after this."Sam whispered once she was out of hearing range.

"Don't say that. It'll be fine, we always are. She's...she's my best friend Sam. I ca-can't lose her."I choked out and Sam looked up at me, his eyes filled with regret and hurt.

"We should have known Dean....We should have known and we didn't."He replied through clenched teeth.

I turned and ran a hand through my hair."I know Sammy, okay? I know, so don't make me feel shittier than I already do."I spat and spun back to face him."I hit her, Sam. I hit my best friend and the woman I love. There is nothing I can do or say that will make that okay. I should have known and I didn't and now she is hurt and I can't make it better Sam."I held my head in my hands, no longer able to look him in the eye.

"That's what I'm saying, Dean. We can't make this better."I looked up at him and was about to reply when Kat's voice called out.

"Would you hurry up!" I gave Sam one last look then headed off in the direction she went, Sam following. Kat was leant against a wall, clutching her side and when she saw us, she pushed off it slightly but tripped on her sprained ankle, crying out.

"Kat! Are you okay?"I exclaimed, rushing to her to help but she glared at me."We should get you to the hospital."

She laughed although it sounded breathless."And tell them what, Dean? That my two best friends beat me and broke a couple ribs?"She spat and I flinched back. I probably deserved that.

"Your ribs are broken?"Sam asked hesitantly.

"I'm surprised you didn't hear the snap when you kicked me." She smirked, but it was filled with pure hurt and hatred. Did she hate us?

"Kat...I'm so, so sorry."Sam whispered, looking down at his feet.

"Sorry doesn't stop the bleeding, Sammy."

Sam and Kate carried on walking but I stayed behind. Finally getting frustrated and lashing out at her."Kat...It was a mistake and we're sorry. What else do you want?"I yelled and she flinched away from me. I instantly felt bad. I wasn't angry at her, she had every right to be hurt; I was angry at me.

She looked up at me and our eyes met."I want to kill these shifters, I want to go back to the motel and swallow as much pain killers as I can, but from you? Nothing, Dean. I want nothing."She hissed the last part and I felt my heart shatter, she said it with such hatred and hurt.

We kept on walking for a bit, Kat refusing help from me or Sam, until we stopped outside a store window that held multiple TVs projecting almost perfect sketches of mine and Kate's faces. I heard her gasp as she saw them too. The reporter said, "An anonymous tip led the police to a home in the Central West End, where a S.W.A.T team discovered a local women bound and gagged. Her attackers, a white male and female, approximately twenty-four to thirty years of age, were discovered hiding in her home."
