  Katherine P.O.V

We pulled into a gas station to fill up the Impala. Sam was on his phone doing whatever it was he did while I sat in the back, nodding my head to the beat of Wheel in the sky by Journey while reading a book by H.P. Lovecraft. Dean had just finished filling up Baby and came around, leaning through the drivers window, turning the music down slightly.

"Alright, I figure we'd hit Tucumcari by lunch, then head south, hit Bisbee by midnight."Dean said, looking back at me before looking at Sam. Sam wasn't paying attention."Sam wears women's underwear."Dean muttered with a smirk. I snorted.

"I've been listening. I'm just busy."Sam replied, his voice seeming a bit distressed.

"Busy doing what?"I asked, leaning over into the front to look over his shoulder.

"Reading e-mails."Sam said.

"E-mails from who?"Dean asked, eyes flickering between his brother and Sam's phone.

"From my friends at Stanford."Sam replied with a heavy sigh.

I nodded with a small smile on my face but Dean didn't react the same."You're kidding."He said."You still keep in touch with your college buddies."

"Why not?"

"Well, what exactly do you tell 'em? You know, about where you've been, what you've been doing?"Dean continued.

"I tell 'em I'm on a road trip with my big brother and best friend. I tell them I need some time off after Jess."

"You lie to your friends Sam?"I asked, a confused expression upon my face.

He looked up from his device to me, shaking his head."No."He said defensively."I just- I just don't tell them.... everything."

"Yeah, that's called lying."Dean scoffed, causing Sam to slouch slightly in defeat."I mean, hey man,"He added. "I get it, I do. Telling them the truth is far worse."

"So what am I supposed to do? Just cut everybody out my life?"Sam asked in a annoyed tone. Dean only shrugged and I sighed."You're serious."

"Look, it sucks, but in a job like this you can't get close to people. Period."Dean explained."I had to do it. Kat had to do it too."

Sam looked back at me and I shrugged."It's true. Not allowed to get close to anyone but you two."I smirked.

Sam chuckled."You're both antisocial, you know that?"

I huffed, leaning back in my seat and crossing my arms."That's what you get when you're stuck in a car with the same jackass for 5 years."I muttered. Sam smiled and Dean glared at me. I batted my eyelashes at him innocently.Sam shot up straight then, appearing slightly panicked."What?"I asked with wide eyes.

"In this e-mail from this girl, Rebecca Warren, one of those friends of mine."Sam began to say.

"Is she hot?"Dean asked. e slid into the car and shut his door, waiting for Sam's answer. I rolled my eyes. Leave it to Dean to ask the 'important' questions.

"What's going on, Sam?"I repeated.

"Well, I went to school with her along with her brother, Zack."Sam explained as he continued to scroll through the message."She says Zack's been charged with murder. He's been arrested for killing his girlfriend. Rebecca says he didn't do it, but it sounds like the cops have a pretty good case." I raised an eyebrow at him.

Dean furrowed his eyebrows."Dude!"He exclaimed."What the hell kind of people are you hanging out with?"

"No!"Sam shot back, his tone defensive."No, man. I know Zack. He's no killer."
