After another few hours of working on the song we both left the studio, "Do you have plans tonight?" He asked me as we walked out of the building and towards our cars. The sun was starting to set, "If you do, that's fine." He told me quickly, "I was just curious." He awkwardly cleared his throat.
"Why?" I asked him curiously. I had no plans, but I wasn't going to tell him that without knowing what his plans were.
"A few people from Smosh Games are coming to my place," he told me with a shrug, "I was going to invite you to join us."
"Sitting in a room with a group of guys playing video games? No thanks." I said with a light laugh as I opened the door to my car.
"No..." He immediately shook his head, "There's going to be another girl there." He told me proudly, "and it will be fun, I promise. They all adore you."
"I guess that's always good," I said hesitantly as I stepped into my car. Part of me really wanted to join him, "I'll follow you there." I forced myself to say and smiled brightly.
He pulled out of my spot and I followed him to his apartment, "My roommate's name is Joshua, but everyone calls him Jovenshire, or Joven. Ian, Anthony, Lasercorn, Sohinki, Flitz, and Mari are also coming." He told me as we walked up the stairs toward his apartment, "They should be here soon."
"So all you do it play video games?" I asked quietly, "and get paid for it?"
He nodded proudly with a cute smile tugging at his lips as he unlocked he door, "Honey, I'm home!" He called loudly as he swung the door open.
"How many times do I have to tell you to stop saying that?" His roommate asked loudly with a laugh from the kitchen. I looked over the dark haired boy as he tossed a towel onto the counter, "The neighbors are going to start getting the wrong ideas about us."
"Look who I brought home," Wes said happily and presented me as if I were a trophy. His head snapped to look in our direction and his eyes got wide when he saw me.
"Stephanie Kyle?" He asked excitedly as he moved towards us, "Oh my gosh, you are my all time favorite singer on YouTube!" He said excitedly, starting to speak again.
"Joven, please, don't scare her away-" Wes said firmly with a smile and glanced down at me.
"I just want her to know that I love her videos!" He told Wes and I awkwardly smiled. There was a knock on the front door.
"I'm sorry," Wes told me quickly as he moved towards the door. Joven continued to tell me about how he has seen all of my videos. I glanced over my shoulder to see people crowding into the apartment. They all crowded around me and began to fawn over me. "Alright!" Wes yelled over all of their talking. Everyone paused and the room got quiet. He went down the row and introduced everyone to me. I felt myself beginning to panic as all of the attention was placed on me
We all migrated into the living area and sat on the couches. There never was a minute without someone trying to talk to me. I sat by Wes and felt myself beginning to grow more nervous, "Are we going to play Dance Central?" Sohinki asked as his roommate set up the game system.
"I'm not comfortable in front of new people," I told Wes, noticing my hands starting to shake in my lap.
I watched him look down at my hands, "You'll do fine," he said seriously, "No matter what, they'll still worship you." He told me quietly with a light laugh, "Just be yourself."
"Alright, everyone is going to dance twice then we will add up the scores. The level has to be on extreme difficulty and the two lowest scoring players will have to dance a duet wearing something embarrassing." Joven said, shrugging his shoulders as he set up the game on the large television screen.
They went around the room dancing. When it got to be my turn everyone cheered as I stood up. I chose the song I was going to be dancing to and adjusted the difficulty setting. It was hip hop. I wasn't great, but I wasn't absolutely horrible. Having never played the game before didn't help. I felt like I was doing everything wrong. When the song ended I had the highest score out of everyone.
As we went around the circle again, taking turns to stand up and embarrass ourselves, I became less nervous. My hands stopped shaking and I was more willing to stand up and dance.
I got first place overall. Ian and Joven, well deservingly, received second-to-last and last place. Wes stood up and walked out of the room. I felt myself becoming nervous again as I was left alone with new faces, "You're a great dancer," I heard a male voice say and turned my head to see the dark haired boy who had been taking score. He was looking at me with his elbows propped on his knees as if he were in a daze.
"Thank you," I said awkwardly and noticed how tightly his white skinny jeans were hugging his legs.
"You should come on Smosh Games sometime," he said to me and a few more heads turned to look in our direction, "I think you would dominate."
"I don't play video games," I told him as everyone listened to our conversation, "I've only played Mario, and that was maybe three times."
"Mario is my favorite," Anthony told me, "and I can help you learn how to play."
"I'd rather stick with music," I told him honestly and he shrugged his shoulders.
"The offer still stands," he stated as Wes came out with two mini skirts and two nice shirts.
"Were those for Callie?" Ian asked as he grabbed an outfit. Wes hesitantly nodded as Ian walked toward the bathroom. Joven went into his room and changed. They both came out wearing the mini skirts and blouses. Everyone laughed, "She didn't want these back?" He asked Wes, motioning to the skirt.
"She hasn't come back for them and it's been a year, so we might as well put them to good use," he said with a hesitant laugh. I watched as his smile quickly fall and he licked his lips awkwardly.
He glanced at me and I turned to look at Joven and Ian as they danced a duet in the tiny skirts. Halfway through the song the skirt Ian wore ripped down the back and his pink briefs were exposed, "Damn it!" He yelled with a laugh and tried to cover the rip with his hands. Everyone erupted with laughter as he continued to dance without using his hands. I glanced at Wes to see a forced smile on his lips. After a minute Ian shouted, "Screw this!" and danced correctly, letting the skirt fall apart. It fell onto the floor and he danced in only his pink briefs and a nice blouse.
The song ended; Joven had won. He raised his hands in the air, "Yes!" He shouted excitedly, "Yes!" I assumed that he rarely wins at games. He laughed happily and leaned on one hip, causing the skirt to rip on the side, "Woops." he said after hearing the loud ripping noise. He glanced at Wes as he turned his head to look down at his hands.
I glanced at the clock, it was almost ten, "I should probably get back home." I told Wes, "I'll see you tomorrow morning at eight, right?" He nodded as I pushed myself to my feet.
"Are you leaving?" Joven asked, still wearing the ripped mini skirt, "You can stay forever." He said and I awkwardly laughed.
"I have to get home," I told him, smiling as I walked out of the living room. Wes hopped off of the couch and followed me, "It was nice to meet you." I told directly to Joven as I approached the door.
"I'll walk you to your car," Wes said and opened the front door of his apartment. I waved goodbye and he shut the door behind us, "What do you think?" He asked as we began to slowly walk down the stairs.
"It was fun," I told him, "But I wouldn't be able to do that every day."
"But you admit that it was fun?" I nodded and he smiled, "I had a good time tonight." He said, "I'm glad that you decided to come."
"Me too," I told him happily as I unlocked my car and stepped into the driver's seat.
