I woke up with her in my arms and automatically smiled. I pressed my lips against the top of her head gently. We had slept the day away. The clock on my side table read four fifteen.

When I took a deep breath I felt her starting to wake up. She slowly opened her eyes and looked up at me, "Good morning, beautiful." I said to her. She still said nothing.

I heard a knock on the front door and didn't move, hoping Joven would answer it. A few moments later there was a quiet knock on my bedroom door. I sat up as the door swung open and Joven stood their with an older looking woman, "I'm detective Stephson from SVU. Are you Sara Konner?" I felt Stephanie freeze. The woman entered holding a clip board to her chest and Joven walked away. She had her brunette hair tied back into a straight pony tale and wore a black uniform with a badge hooked to her belt. I placed my hand over Stephanie's and she intertwined our fingers , "I have a few questions concerning the attack from the other day." She told us professionally, "May I talk to her in private?"

I glanced down at Stephanie, then back to the woman, "I don't know if now is the best time," I said as Stephanie shut her eyes tightly and gripped my hand.

"Well," the woman said, then turned to look down at Stephanie, "Sara, this is a very serious-"

I could feel Stephanie shaking, "With all due respect, m'am, her name is Stephanie Kyle."I told the woman. She looked at her clipboard, then began to speak again, but I interrupted her, "Please refer to her as Stephanie." I said as politely as I could before she could speak, "This is not a good time."

"We can't wait much longer," she said, "She will have to identify her attacker and testify." Stephanie's eyes popped open and she gripped my hand tighter.

"You haven't even caught the man!" I said louder as she began to cry silently onto the pillow. I took a short breath as I glared at the woman, "Maybe we should speak in the living room." I let go of Stephanie's hand and quickly crawled out of the bed. The woman walked out of the room and I called Joven's name, "Go sit with her, please." I told him forcefully and he immediately entered my room. He shut the door behind him and I led the woman to the kitchen table.

"Look-," she said seriously and furrowed her brow, "What's your name?" She asked me as she sat down.

"Wesley Johnson," I told her.

"Alright, Wesley, this isn't a joke. It isn't some type of game-." She said as if I were a child.

"You think I don't know that?" I asked her, "She won't even talk," My voice cracked and I began to speak softer, "Her sister died and she was attacked again. I know this isn't a joke!" I said forcefully, "You don't need to tell me that."

"Again?" She asked seriously as she looked down at her clip board, "We have no files of a prior attack." She told me.

"They took place in Tennessee," I told her quietly, "Her sister was attacked too." I added quickly, "Her brothers were beaten and the eldest was murdered by the same man."

"She knows her attacker?" She asked more as a statement and crossed her hands over her clip board as she listened to me.

"It's her father," I told her hesitantly, "It was in the papers that he escaped from jail. He found her."

"Did she tell you this? What's his name?" She asked me and I shrugged my shoulders, "Can you describe him for a sketch artist?" I shook my head.

"I only saw him roaming around once and it was dark," I told her, "and like I said, she hasn't spoken."

We went on for a few more minutes and I told her everything I knew that would help with her investigation, "Well, thank you for speaking with me," she told me as she stood up. I shook her hand, "Please give me a call as soon as she starts talking again." She handed me her card and walked out of the door.

I walked back to my room to see Stephanie leaning on Joven's shoulder. I felt a bit of jealously form within me and quickly walked to her side, "The detective is gone, Steph." I said to her and ran my hand over her hair as she stayed resting on Joven's shoulder.

She never spoke. She never sang. It broke my heart to see her moping around in complete silence. I wouldn't kiss her. I would only hold her hand at certain times and hold her when she cried. I took care of her, but there wasn't much more that I could do.
