I sat on the bed with my sister while Wes was sitting on the floor in front of the television. Once she got out of the shower I gave her a pair of jogging pants and a clean shirt from my suit case, then French-braided her hair, "What do you do?" She asked calmly, "Both of you, like for a living?"
"I sing in videos," I told her, "and I play all of the instruments grandma gave to me. I also dance professionally now."
"You seem to have your life together," she lightly laughed and stared down at her hands.
"Don't worry, you have the rest of your life to do whatever you decide." I told her with a hopeful smile.
She looked up and at Wes, "What do you do?"
"I play video games for a living." He said proudly.
"I have no clue what I want to do," she said with a sigh, "I've never really done anything."
"That's exactly how I felt when I got away, but don't worry you'll figure it out once you see how much freedom you actually have here." I told her with a smile.
After three hours of lounging around the hotel area and getting to know one another, we decided to go out.
"Is this appropriate to wear out?" She asked me and motioned to the sweats I had given her.
"Ooh!" I said excitedly and clapped my hands, "We can go shopping!"
"I don't have any money." She told me with a frown glued on her face and I placed my hand over hers.
"Don't worry," I told her, "I'm going to take care of you. Trust me, I have way more money than I'll ever need."
"So what are the plans?" Wes asked as he exited the bathroom wearing black jeans and a green Legend of Zelda shirt.
"We are going to eat at the food court in the mall, then we are going shopping." I said happily and Wes exited the room so that we could get ready.
I blow dried her braid, then handed her a short maroon dress to wear. Once she was in the bathroom I pulled off my shirt and changed into a plain white crop top, then pulled on a pair of short overalls. I slid on a pair of white shoes as my sister exited the bathroom, "Cute!" I said as she walked towards me, "Let me fix your hair."
"This is different," she told me with a smile as she turned around and I began to take her hair out of its braid. Her blonde hair curled at her shoulders and she continued to smile at me, "Thank you." She said and hugged me, "I missed you so much."
"I missed you too," I told her honestly. I called for Wes to come back into the room and a few minutes later he entered. I handed her a pair of black flats and she tried them on, "They might be a little small, but we can buy you some. I have super tiny feet." I said as both she and Wes looked down at my feet.
We called a taxi and a younger man drove us to the mall. He looked to be around our age, "We are going to need rides a lot today." We told him awkwardly, "Are you allowed to stay with us?"
He told us some legal rules about the taxi company he drove for, then we made a deal for payment, "Where are you from?" He asked me as we rode towards the mall, "I don't usually see girls like you around." He put a pair of sunglasses on and glanced at me in the review mirror. I awkwardly glanced at Wes to see that his lips were pressed tightly together and his hands were in fists, "You look better than a lot of girls here." He said to me.
My sister nudged my arm and I began to blush, "Thank you." I told him awkwardly as we pulled into the parking lot of the mall.
"So are you going to stay in here, or-?" I asked as we all exited the taxi.
"How about I give you my number and you call me when you are ready to leave," he smirked at me from under his sunglasses, "Then we can meet somewhere in the mall." I hesitantly agreed and we exchanged phone numbers, "I'll see you in a few hours, beautiful." He said with a smirk on his lips as we all turned away to walk towards the mall entrance.
We walked inside and Emily was amazed, "Have you ever been in a mall before?" I asked her and took her hand. She shook her head and I guided her towards the food court.
"I'm starving," she told me as we waited in line for Japanese food. We ordered three boxes, "I haven't eaten in like two days." She told us.
Once we were all finished eating we walked towards the first clothing store, "We can only buy enough that will fit in a suitcase." I told her and she snapped her head to look at me.
"Where are we going?" She asked quickly.
"We live in California," I told her with a light laugh.
"I get to go to California?" She asked with wide eyes and smiled brightly, "This is so exciting!"
We walked into the stores and she tried on almost every outfit they had to offer. We purchased about five outfits and a swim suit before heading to the shoe store to purchase some shoes. She chose three shoes that matched with her outfits, "I love you so much," she told me happily as I purchased her shoes.
We handed Wes the bags and he walked behind us, not complaining at all. Once we were finished shopping I called the taxi boy and we met by his car, "Where to now, gorgeous?" He asked and I glanced at my sister to see her smiling.
"We can go swim at the hotel," Wes said. Emily and I both agreed.
"Sara-" she hesitated and awkwardly looked down, "I mean, Stephanie- you are the greatest sister ever!" She told me with a smile and placed her hand over mine.
We got back to the hotel and walked to the elevator, "When are we leaving for California?" Emily asked me.
"Five days," I told her, "We are flying there." I told her and she became even more ecstatic.
"I can't wait to get out of here and go somewhere new!" I smiled and we all walked towards the hotel room.
