The project meant even more time alone, together. Pete and Mikey spent every other lunch trying to perfect their piece. Their obvious shared love for bass guitar brought them closer together, not that they would admit that though. At least, Mikey wouldn't, but Pete wasn't so sure. He had realised that Mikey was a really great guy to his friends, and when he was with his bass around Pete.

This only happened in private, however. Pete would never dare admit that he may have a soft spot for Mikey Way, and pretended to hate him as much as he used to.

Mikey sat at the back of the maths classroom, thinking about the same thing. He had always hated Pete, but recently he caught Pete smiling at him or admiring him every now and then.
Mikey noticed, also, that he was still a bit of a dickhead to his friends, but in a good way. Not in the way that he is to Mikey. He seemed like an actual nice person, behind the bitchy attitude toward Mikey and Mikey only.

At least usually this was his attitude, but not when they were alone in the music room. They both never seemed to argue there, and didn't mind each other's presence. They actually would have civilized conversations, and every time Pete smiled, Mikey immediately felt a lot happier. Pete's smile was gorgeous, and that was the only word to describe it, with it's perfect teeth and-

Was Mikey growing feelings for Pete?

He shook his head, trying to get these thoughts out of his head.
The bell rang for lunch, which meant another hour with Pete.
He felt like he should be repulsed at the thought, but he realised how Pete was actually an okay person when they were with and focused on their basses.

He strolled out the class and headed for the music room, where Pete was already sitting, legs swinging gently.
As Mikey approached, he remembered his earlier thoughts and decided to be more cautious today.

"Hey Mikes, I think I figured out the last part for the song!" Pete grinned up at Mikey, who couldn't help but smile back at the small excited emo boy.

"No, no. You have to put your finger here." Mikey grabbed Pete's hand softly and gently placed it over the correct frets, before pressing each finger down on the strings, his hands placed over Pete's to guide him.

He realised how long he had been holding Pete's hand and let go quickly, blushing hard.

Pete also noticed how long Mikey was holding his hand and was rather upset when he let go. He blushed at the thought, and saw Mikey was also blushing.

The fluttery knotty feeling in his stomach returned as he looked at Mikey, he looked at his gentle pink cheeks, cute brown eyes, perfect jawline, and almost sighed in admiration.

Neither was sure why the other was blushing, but they both stared awkwardly at their feet before they blushed anymore. The room was silent for a minute, before Mikey soon snapped back into reality.

"Uh, so yeah, can you play that part now?" Mikey picked up his bass and began playing, looking up expectantly at Pete to play the next part.
"Uh... Which part?" Pete had completely blanked on the frets he had just been pressing, and which notes to play. He was too engrossed in Mikey's face, as cheesy as that sounded.

Mikey groaned, fed up as he stopped playing and yanked Pete's arm sharply, this time placing his fingers fiercely.
"These ones, idiot."

Pete looked up angrily at Mikey, annoyed at his sudden burst of impatience,
"Hey, it's not my fault you decided to fucking hold my hand!"

Mikey then stood up, fed up with Pete, and Pete followed, considerably shorter than the former, but still rather scarily angry.

"Only somebody as twisted as you would think that this was an excuse to hold your hand!" Mikey practically yelled in Pete's face, who glared back and leaned closer to retort nastily or punch him or something, but the weird, fluttery knot in his stomach only got tighter.

He was suddenly at a loss for words, and he was just staring angrily into Mikey's eyes, which were staring right back at his.

The tension in the room was so strong, hanging in between the two heavily, and their faces were so close together and, wow, Mikey looked fucking hot when he was angry.
Before he could help it, Pete crashed his lips into Mikey's and kissed him, taking out his anger in the kiss.

Mikey stood there, shocked while a boy was attached to his lips. Without really thinking, he started kissing back. He suddenly had a rush of affection for a guy he once hated, and he was loving the moment.

Their lips worked together, angrily yet passionately. Pete wrapped his arms around Mikey's skinny waist and pulled himself closer, as Mikey clung onto the back of Pete's neck, deepening the kiss. They lost track of time as their only focus was the boy in front of them, wondering how they ever hated such a great person.

Pete pushed Mikey against the wall and carried on roughly fighting his mouth with his own, eyebrows still furrowed.

After a couple of minutes they suddenly heard the door creak, breaking the silence. They leapt apart as quickly as possible, while trying to look as casual as they could - as if they hadn't just been practically eating the face of the boy next to them against a wall.

They looked up, hoping whoever was there didn't see them, but saw a wide eyed Ryan Ross staring at them both.
They were obviously too late.

The three stood there awkwardly, but soon enough a loud, obnoxious voice entered the room.
"Ryan! What the actual fuck is taking you so long?" Brendon yelled at his boyfriend and walked in with Spencer, and both suddenly stopped in their tracks at the sight.

Ryan lifted his finger warily at Pete and Mikey, who both had swollen lips and messy hair, before mumbling,
"I thought you hated each other..."

Brendon's jaw hung open, but quickly shut as he grinned.
"Haha! Spencer you owe me ten dollars!" Brendon laughed, "fucking called it."
Spencer grumbled as he turned to pull out a note from his wallet. He handed it over roughly, and Brendon snatched it before stuffing it in his pocket, grinning evily the entire time.

Pete glared at Brendon.
"What... you fucking betted on us getting together?" He growled at a smirking Urie, whose smirk only grew.
"Yeah, we've been shipping you for years, everyone is, I swear everyone's betted on you two. Oh wait until I tell everyone about this!"

Mikey suddenly stood up straight, eyes wide, and spoke up quickly,
"You can't tell anyone about this!" He fiddled with his hands nervously, thinking about the situation.

He wasn't sure at what point he felt something that wasn't deep hatred for Pete, but this unknown feeling was weird, almost like flying but like drowning at the same time.

Pete nodded eagerly in agreement, determined to shut up the boy with the large forehead. He couldn't believe he was gay, particularly for Mikey Way?

If anybody found out that the two enemies liked each other, they'd never hear the end of it. Mikey was also scared of what Gerard would do.

Brendon paused, shaking his head.
"Tell you what, you both come to my party next week, and I'll keep my mouth shut." There had to be a catch, but Pete reluctantly shook his hand.

Mikey gestured toward Spencer and Ryan in the corner,
"What about those two?"
Brendon looked over his shoulder.
"Oh they'll keep quiet, don't worry." He commented as if it was no big deal, but to Mikey and Pete, it was the biggest deal in the world.

The three intruders then left the music room without another word, leaving Mikey and Pete looking at each other with fear.

It was safe to say they were most likely fucked.

And not in the way they would like.
