I don't usually do trigger warnings and shit, but there's homophobia in this chapter, so you are warned.

Gerard knew something like this was going to happen, but he didn't reckon it was going to be this bad.

He was crumpled against the corner of the room, crying his eyes out. There, right in front of him, he had witnessed his nightmares.

As soon as he and his brother had arrived home, Mikey was grabbed by their dad and pressed against the wall. Gerard had been pushed to the side, where he could only watch in horror. They had threatened Mikey, and already packed him suitcases to leave the house - they 'can't live in the same house as this disgusting kind'.

Mikey had refused to leave, at this point he was crying his eyes out.
And this was when their dad had thrown the first punch.

He had kept on hitting and hitting, until all that was left was an unconscious boy crumpled on the floor.

The worst part was that Gerard did nothing to stop it, mostly because he was frozen in shock. These were his goddamn parents, and as soon as they had found out something that was really not that important to their lives, they had treated their own son in an absolutely horrific manner.

Eventually, their dad had thrown the last punch, and had left the unconscious body lying there. He walked off, and left the room filled with nothing but Gerard's sobs.

Gerard rushed over to his baby brother's body, holding him close to his chest.

"Oh God, Mikes. I'm so sorry." He choked between sobs. He could never have the guts to go through what his brother just went through, and he had so much respect for that. He still had to discuss himself, and his relationship with Frank to his parents, but that obviously wasn't going to happen any time soon. To say Gerard was scared would be the biggest understatement.
But at that moment he was mostly scared that his brother might not even make it to the next day.

He probably sat there rocking the body of his brother for about ten minutes, before he calmed down and got a straight train of thought.

"Shit, you need to get to a hospital. We need you to live, Mikey." Gerard didn't even care that he was talking to his passed out brother, who definitely could not hear him.

He struggled to lift the skinny body over his shoulder, but soon managed to run out the door and into the dark.

Sprinting to the nearest hospital with his brother over his shoulder, Gerard certainly looked odd, but he just needed his brother to live.

Mikey couldn't die.

Pete never received any calls, especially not at one in the morning. So of course, when he was woken by the annoying ring of his phone, he was confused.

He was even more confused when he saw the caller was Gerard Way, because they barely talk.

Pete reluctantly picked up the call and spoke groggily, sighing as he squinted his eyes at nothing in particular,
"Gee, what the fuck, it's one in the morning, what could you possibly want?"

Gerard's voice came out muffled and cracked, as if he was crying.
"Pete, you need to come to the hospital now. It's Mikey, he-"

Pete nearly fell out of his bed at the fact that Mikey was in hospital, and he cut Gerard off, yelling,
"What the fuck? Mikey's in hospital, shit, what happened? Is he okay?"

He fired the questions without pauses for answers.

"Just- just come to the hospital. We're at the one near the river." Gerard hung up quickly, and Pete could tell that he was embarrassed because he sounded like a wreck.
