Pete never left Mikey's bedside. He would sit there hour after hour, and he would attempt to sleep on the uncomfortable plastic chair each night, even if it gave him the worst pain in his back the next day. He was just so upset, right when everything was going right, something had to go wrong. Terribly wrong.
"Pete, you need to get out of this room. Get food, fresh air, human interaction with... alive people." Joe had stormed into the room for the tenth time in the past two days, and was once again lecturing Pete.
The others would visit Mikey every several hours, but everyone was tired with always having Pete there, either talking to the boy or just watching him lay there."Mikey is alive! He hasn't died, and he won't die!" Pete screamed at Joe, worked up and defensive.
"Whatever, just join us, we're all going to the coffee shop and you should get out of this hell hole." Joe stared at the machinery attached to Mikey as he said this, he had a slight fear of hospital machinery and he was eager to stay away from it as if it would shoot him with laser beams or something.
"But I can't leave Mikey here!" Pete was close to tears, and he held Mikey's cold hand for comfort.
"Look, he's going to be the in the same position when we come back, and if, if, he wakes up, he'd have to stay there anyway." Joe sighed as he saw Pete slump in defeat, and he slowly got up to join Joe in the doorway, taking one last glance at Mikey before they left.
When they arrived at the coffee shop, they found the group sitting at a big booth in the middle of the shop. Patrick waved them over excitedly, glad to see Pete outside of the creepy white hospital room.
As the pair went to sit down, Pete noticed that Frank hadn't turned up, leaving just Gerard, Ray, Patrick, Andy, and Joe with him.
"Gee, where's your boyfriend?" Pete asked Gerard, who seemed more on-edge than usual, but that may have been because of the four empty coffee cups in front of him.
Gerard nervously checked his phone, and shook his head.
"No idea. He won't answer my texts or calls. What the hell happened?"Before anyone could reply, a loud ringing coming from the bell on top of the front door meant that someone else had walked in. Gerard shot a glance at the door, hoping to see Frank, but sighing when he noticed it was only Tyler and Josh standing more than just platonically close. They squeezed on the end of the booth, and Joe sighed and smirked,
"How come everyone here is gay?"Ray, Patrick, and Andy giggled; but Pete grumbled, thinking about Mikey, and Gerard looked away, worried about Frank. Tyler's eyes widened significantly as he stared at Joe, exclaiming,
"What? We're not gay! And it's only those two anyway." He pointed at the two who didn't laugh. The others laughed once more, but Pete and Gerard could find no amusement in the situation, they both had different large burdens on their minds as they sat at the table, moping.
It had been about ten minutes before Gerard felt a soft nudge on his shoulder, snapping him out of his daze as he stared out the window. He turned to look at the source of the nudge, and spotted Patrick sitting next to him, biting his lip as he looked into Gerard's eyes.
"If you want, I can help you look for him after we visit Mikey." Patrick muttered soothingly, calming Gerard and bringing a smile to his face."I'd like that very much." Gerard squeezed Patrick's hand to show his gratitude to Patrick's thoughtfulness.

As Pete rushed into the hospital room, Gerard and Patrick trailing behind, he stopped at the unusual sight of about six men in white coats gathered around Mikey's bed, blocking his view from the boy completely.
