Chapter 11: "Baby Blue or Baby Pink?"

Erin sat at her desk waiting for Jay to finish his work, they were all waiting to go to the hospital to find out the gender of the baby. Erin was super excited and so was Jay. They never had discussed what they wanted and if they wanted a boy or a girl. Erin wants a girl but she doesn't really care as long as the baby is healthy.

"Erin, ready to go?" Jay asked looking up from his desk.

Erin smiled and shook her head, she grabbed her purse then walked out holding hands with Jay.

"Bye Hank!"

"Are we still calling and doing the gender reveal?" Erin and Jay both shook their heads. Kim and Adam had gone earlier in the day to find out what they were having. No one said a word.

Jay drove to the hospital and they both got out. Erin walked into the hospital and walked to the doctors office.

"I'm so excited Jay."

Nadia found out what Kim was having she was buying the baby things for her, and Erin once they called.

"Erin, I'm excited to start this. I really am baby." Jay smiled then hugged his wife.

"Alright Mrs. Halstead, do you want to know what you are having?" Erin and Jay both shook their heads no.

"We are gonna get the picture then hand it to my friend and she is gonna tell us with the gender reveal." The nurse chuckled,

"Alright." Nadia found out the gender and got the cake baked then it was blue and pink at the district everyone was excited.

"Nadia, I think we should tell Jay and Erin." Mouse walked up behind her and kissed her cheek making sure no one saw him.

"No we shouldn't. They don't need to know. It's not their business." Mouse smiled.

"Alright I won't tell him, but we have to soon." Mouse helped put up the banner. "Boy or Girl?"

Kim walked up the steps holding Adam's hand. They both turned their heads and looked at each other.

"I love this." There were two cakes sitting on the table one for Erin and one for Kim. It was going to be a great surprise.

Erin put her hand on her stomach and smiled real big. "Jay, I don't care what the gender is as long as the baby is healthy." Jay placed his on her bump.

"Alright. It's gonna be a boy though." Jay chuckled

"Yeah right Halstead." Erin chuckled adage unbuckled her seat and walked into the district.

Everyone in the unit talked until They decided it was time to cut the cakes. Jay and Adam stood behind their wife's and helped them cut it. All you heard were squeals coming from both women.

"YES! I told you all it was gonna be a boy!" Jay shouted. Adam smiled as he grabbed a plate and put the cake on it.

Kim was having a girl and Erin was having a boy.

"Okay you two you have to give us names." Nadia begged. Erin and Jay both looked at each other then Kim and Adam looked at each other.

"Well since The baby is a girl her name is Sierra Madelyn Ruzek. We changed our minds a bit on the name. It was Brooklynn but we changed it." Kim smiled big placing her hand on top her bump.

Jay smiled as he placed his hand on top Erin's bump. "Our little man's name is Jackson Richard Halstead, after his great grandpa. Richard Henry Voight." Hank smiled big and hugged Erin tightly.

"I love it thank you for honoring him." Erin smiled.

"It's the least I can do you saved my life and without Him, I wouldn't have you. Thank you Hank." Erin hugged him tighter.

"A girl and a boy running around here. That sounds like fun. I can't wait to meet my niece and nephew." Kevin hugged Kim then hugged Erin.

Nadia smiled as she hugged Jay then Erin. "Mouse and I are dating!" She blurted no one said anything for a few minutes it was quiet. Mouse smiled as Jay turned his head towards his best friend.

"Whoa wait so you two? How long?" Erin asked

"About 5 months.." Mouse confessed. Leaving everyone speechless.

"We weren't going to tell you." Nadia smiled big as Mouse hugged her.

Jay was really excited he started painting the extra room in the house when he got home, then he started painting the letters of his name.
"Jack."

"Erin, I'm excited to meet him. I really am." Jay smiled big.

"Kim, I think we should agree on colors. I like purple or pink. It doesn't matter though."

"Purple for our girl and Adam, you should go out with Jay before the babies come. He'd enjoy it and so would you. Nadia wants to take me and Erin out. I gotta call Sylvie and ask her if she'd want to come. She's having twins and it's a boy and a girl." Kim chuckled

"I don't know how I would survive with twins." Adam pulled the covers over his body.

Erin and Jay awoke to the sound of the alarm pounding in their ears.

"Er, go back to sleep." Erin smiled then fell back asleep. Jay got up and got dressed then he made breakfast then left for the gym. He drove to the baby store and started buying the things for the room. He was going to surprise her.

"I need some help. Blue. We are having a boy and I know nothing." The lady chuckled.

Jay settled on blue and police cars. It was easy enough and ironic. Jay smiled happily as he carried the stuff to the car, then he drove home. He was only gone for a few hours but Erin left and went shopping with Kim. Leaving Adam and Will and Owen helping them.

"I can't believe I'm spending my Saturday doing this. I could be going to the baseball park." Owen shrugged as he started putting together the dresser.

"Next is my house." Jay looked around the finished room hours later and he smiled big.

"I love this." Jay sat on the couch watching the white sox game with Mouse when Kim and Erin walked in the house giddy and excited.

"We got presents for our little babies." Erin said excitedly. Jay chuckled. Erin held up a onesie that read "Daddy's Partner in Crime."

"Kim got a whole bunch of dresses for her little girl and Erin got sports shirts and she got a White Sox Jersey and a Blackhawks.

"That is awesome Erin. I love it." Jay held up the jersey proudly and smiled.

Erin and Jay had one month Til their miracle baby arrived.
