Chapter 50: "I'll See You Again"

Easton stood tall in his Army uniform, not trying to smile. His face was blank.. No one spoke. Jay sat next to Erin, holding his sleeping son Levi. Jack sat next to Erin quiet. Jay turned his head towards Nat who was lying in Will's arms trying to control her tears. Jay shook his head then looked back at his son, who was standing in front of them.

Easton heard the trumpets then looked straight at his Sergeant who was finishing up talking. After that Easton stood tall, and showed a tiny smile.

"I was Owen's best friend since we were five.. We had gone through everything together. When Taylor... Died. I was right there. We promised each other we'd both come home.. I don't blame him for breaking the promise, but I do blame him for not waiting until we both found the loves of our lives.. I wanted to grow old with him, but I'm gonna see him again.. We have to remember him not forget about him. I miss you friend. I'll see you again someday." Easton tapped the coffin and smiled big.

"I love you." He mouthed

Mallory held her six month old son in her arms as her older cousin got up and began talking.

"Hey little bro. I'm gonna miss you a lot. I found a girl. Her name is Dani. S she's pretty awesome. I wish you could meet her. Parker is gonna miss his uncle but I know you are always with him.. I'll keep you close, and I'll never forget about you. I'll remember the good times we had." Wyatt burst into tears, then sat back down.

Easton went home and sat down on his couch. He popped open a beer then started watching tv. He dialed Aidyn's number but didn't press the call button. He sat there staring at it like he was in a trance.

"Damn it." He said as he heard the door knock. He put his phone down then got up and answered it.

"What the hell you damn kids playing ding dong ditch." Easton mumbled before looking down to a package.

He opened it up and smiled as he saw a letter. "Hey East, I know you missed us, but here's a couple pictures and some of your favorite candy. My kids can't wait to meet you." Love Isaiah

There was another note from his daughter Lane. "Hi, I'm Lane. I'm 8 and I just wanted to say thank you for saving my daddy. I can't wait to meet you and come visit us. Daddy says he misses his best friend. PS I love skittles too." She drew a smiley face

His other daughter Piper also wrote a letter. "Hi Easton, I'm Piper, you may have heard about me. Anyways I just wanted to say thank you. I'm 15 and I really really appreciate you saving him. I hope you come visit. Mom just had twins. PS I also heard they would love to meet their godfather..." Piper put a picture of her and her baby brothers.

Easton ran and grabbed his phone and called Isaiah. "You could have told me You dumbass." Easton said

"Oh that. You must've got the box. Easton I hope you don't mind but I'd love for you to fly to New York and visit us. We'll pay for your ticket. Just tell us when you are coming."

"You want me to be their godfather?" Isaiah smiled

"Yeah. I'd love it. Amber said it's fine. Bring your lady up here too.." Easton moaned

"I haven't seen her.. She's apparently in Texas studying to become a doctor." Isaiah added

"Oh. Well just fly up here. Piper would like to say hi."

"Hi Uncle Easton! Please come up here. Dad talks about you a lot. He said you were the funny one." Piper started laughing.

"Yeah well. I don't try to be. And I'll come up there how about next weekend?" Easton burst into laughter.

"Dad!! He said next weekend!" Piper started laughing.

"Daddy! He said he was gonna come!" Lane yelled

"I'm so excited Easton. I'll see you next weekend. Call soon man!" Isaiah said before hanging up the phone. Easton bent down and grabbed the box. He took the pocket knife out of his pocket then cut the tape open.

He picked up the photo and stared at it.

Easton put it down then grabbed his beer on the coffee table and began drinking it.

Jay walked into Erin's house and hugged her. "Erin, can we talk?"

"No. Why?"

"Erin, I love you and I don't want this to end."

"Jay I I don't know. I I don't know if I do love you. I I just want to be happy."

"Erin, I I promise I'll make you happy. Just let me in..." Erin picked up some toys.

"Jay, I I can't.. I I don't love you anymore. We just haven't been the same. Not since you lied and everything else."

Jay sat down on the couch and watched her picked up their kids' toys.

"Erin I'm sorry. I'm sorry for arguing over every little tiny thing.." Jay stood up and gave her a kiss.

"Jay, I U don't love you anymore. I I just want you to go. Please Jay. Just leave. Please I I want to get a divorce. I I just want to be happy again I I wanna be myself. I I wanna raise the kids. I I wanna just worry about them and work. I I married you because I loved you but I I don't anymore."

"Erin?"

Easton looked back at his phone and saw a voicemail from Aidyn. He rolled his eyes then pressed the button to hear the message.

"Hey East, I miss you and I just wanted to tell you I love you and I can't wait to see you.."

"Gosh... How many times does the door have to open.."

He got up and walked to the door,before he opened it he let out a tiny moan. He opened up the door and noticed a baby carseat on the ground below him.

This is my first time ever writing to fifty chapters. I'm not even lying. Holy. Thank you soo much for reading.. I really appreciated the love this story got. It really made me smile. You guys really make me enjoy rewriting this whole story... And sure I did take a few unexpected turns through out it.. I rewrote it. But in the end this really turned out how I wanted it to be. Not the ending I was gonna write but nothing ever goes as planned. But thank you so much. Let's get this story to 7K reads!!!
