Chapter 40: "Lost without You"

"Easton, what happened?" Mallory asked picking up his cracked phone.

"U u uncle Kevin w wa was just i in a car accident h th they don't know if he will make it." Mallory pulled Easton in for a hug.

"He will make it. He's strong." Easton burst into tears trying to keep walking.

"It was a drunk driver a and Sierra was with him.. S she's fine.. But h he's not. I have to go home. I can't be here. I need to be there." Easton stood still listening to the screaming in the background of his phone. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had lost his uncle to drunk driving and he wasn't going to lose another.

Easton felt like his whole world was coming to an end like he was spiraling into a black hole. He needed Kevin to be okay, but he wasn't. Somewhere's in there he had hope,but he was slowly losing it. Jay and Erin woke up to the phone ring also.

"Jay,what happened?" Erin asked

"K Kevin is in the hospital. H he was hit by a drunk driver. Sierra wa was in the car with him. Will doesn't know if he's gonna make it." Erin sat up in the bed and threw a shirt on.

"I is Sierra okay? was she hurt?" Erin asked worried

"I guess I don't know. Erin, call the kids. Tell them we are on the next flight home. If they aren't then oh well." Jay jumped out of bed and threw a shirt on. He packed his bag back up then packed the boys' stuff.

"I I will Jay I'm worried." Erin got up and booked tickets for midnight. Easton and the other two ran back to the hotel. No one knew what to say. It was quiet as everyone packed up.

"Hank, where is my daughter?" Kim asked running into the hospital. She was stopped by Antonio who pulled her in for a hug.

"You you can't go in there. S she is getting checked out." Kim burst into tears.

"I I need to see my baby girl Antonio." Kim snapped crying

"I need to see if she's okay." Kim clung tight to Adam crying into his chest.

The whole room was quiet. No one spoke a word. Mallory grabbed her bag then packed it into the car. everyone else followed. The ride to the airport was silent. They let the security check them and they got onto the airplane.

"He can't die." Easton mumbled buckling up.

"I know son. I know how much he means to you." Jay said kissing Erin softly.

"Dad he's the only one who gets it. Who gets being last at everything who gets not being the one who does everything." Easton burst into tears trying to contain himself. Mallory tried texting Hank through the tears but she couldn't.

The plane ride went by fast according to Jack. He was sleeping and so was Levi.

Easton sped to the hospital. Passing every red light. He parked the suburban then jumped out grabbing his phone the running towards the entrance.

"Where is he? What happened?" Easton shouted. Jay ran in next. Everyone else followed. Easton burst into tears.

Easton tried running towards the double doors but Jay stopped him. "NO LET ME THROUH! HES MY UNCLE! I can't let him die!" Easton shouted Jay pulled him in for a hug.

"Easton chill." Jay softly repeated into his son's ear.

"H he can't die Dad." Easton walked back to a chair and sat down putting his headphones in and crying.

"H he can't die." Easton repeated. Erin walked towards Kim and pulled her in for a hug.

"Kim she's gonna be okay. She'll be alright." Kim burst into more tears clinging tighter to Erin.
