Jay closed the door to his room at his sister's house then looked around. Mikey came running towards him.

"Uncle Jay! Mommy got us ice cream." Mikey yelled

"That's awesome bud... Hey Car, c can I tell you why I did it?"

"Why you did what? You are damn lucky you are staying here.."

"Car I I'm sorry to you and mom and everyone especially Erin.. I I did it because I I had a gu gun to my head. T the g guy was Commissioner Robbins... I I tried not too b but it seems like there's a bunch of corruption I in the city.. I I was investigating it on my own, a and h he caught me said I if I didn't he'd kill my family and tell everyone what I was doing..."

"Jay you think Erin is going to believe you? Really?"

"Car y you have to believe me.. I I didn't cheat on her on purpose s she means the world to me t those kids mean the world to me.. I I didn't want them to die.. I instead I I would rather cheat and face it head on.."

"J Jay y you slept with another woman.. Jay Y you cheated on your wife... I I can understand why but y you should have told Hank... Jay she's the best thing to this family that happened to you.. Ever since you met her your life has been more than amazing. Those kids bring you so much happiness.. I I hate seeing you like this.. Easton is a lot like his mom.. What do you think Caroline would say? She would say in the sassiest attitude. 'You are making a mistake... Don't do it' that's what she would say Jay Alexander Richard Halstead... What' do you think Grandpa would say? He'd say the same damn thing your twin would say... Yo you made a mistake hell we all do, but what you need to do is go to your house and tell Erin the truth nothing but the truth you made a promise to her and your kids.. Jay mistakes are made but that's no reason you should stop living.. I mean look Wyatt changed, h he changed because of Allie not for her, he changed because of Parker not for him... You changed because of your family Erin helped you become a better man.. I I don't want you and her to go down the drain.."

"I'll go talk to her.."

Easton paced around the bathroom and looked around watching.. He looked over at his best friend through the window.. H he had been sitting in the hospital bed for a month.

"Doctor is he going to get better?" Easton asked

"Look Halstead I I don't know... I I haven't seen any changes in your cousin..."

"He's gotta make it home.. H he's my best friend.. We became heroes because it was the right thing. We both promise we were coming home..."

"Look the same reason I became one is to save lives.. The road to becoming one is easy as hell but you shouldn't let that stop you from finishing it... The road is long and hard but there's only one reason you became a hero.... mine is because of 9/11 I I lost five friends in the South Tower my wife... We had three kids.. I I decided to get deployed once more.. Now I'm a doctor.. So Easton just pray that's all you can really do. Hope for a miracle.."

"I I have been praying I do every night..."

"A miracle might happen... I mean I don't know..."

"I I wish I believed in miracles..,  I lost my mom in 9/11 I I lost my dad due to a Humvee accident.. H he was in the Army... I I lost my uncle a couple months ago... I I don't believe in them because every time I ask for one I I don't get it.."

"Wait what's your dad's name?"

"I it's uh Brandon Smith.."

"I I knew him a and Jay Halstead? A are you related to him?"

"H he's my adopted father... Well my uncle.. You knew them?"

"Y yeah... I went to high school with them.. W we decided to go into the Army together. Y your dad and Brandon were best friends.. They were brave."
