Chapter 45: "Help Us"

It had been a couple days since they had found that Mallory went missing. No one knew who had taken her or why anyone would. Jay was starting to get worried. Hank was pushing for all of patrol to be out there, looking. None of the patrol found anything.

Jay walked into Chicago Med for the First time in a couple days since they found the baby. Luke had been there staying until they found Mallory.

Maggie pointed to the elevator. Jay nodded his head then started walking towards his grandson's room. Jay watched in the window as Luke was staring at his son in awe. Jay smiled then opened the door.

Jay looked liked he hadn't gotten any sleep days, which he hasn't. He was tired and sleeping.

"Hey Mr. Halstead!" Luke said trying to keep the conversation off of Mallory.

"Call me Jay Luke..."

"He's beautiful.." Their son had been put in an incubator, to give him air.

"His name is James Joseph Miller.. JJ or Jamie.. For short.."

"That is a good name.." Jay said giving him a hug.

"Can I help you find her?"

"I I don't think you should. I mean James needs a dad.. I if Mal doesn't make it. H he needs someone."

"I I understand what you are saying.." Luke shook his head and gave him a hug.

Luke stepped back and started staring at his son. like he was the only thing in the room. He was small and tiny, for being a month early.

"Jame, I love you a lot. You will be my best friend till the day I die. I promise to always protect you.. I will always take good care of you. I want you to know your mom is the going to be the best. She'll always be your go to. If I'm not home go to her. I can't wait to spend time with you. I love you more than words. I promise you'll always have me. I'm not going anywhere bud.. James May God always be with you. And may he bless you with the strength to carry on. I I will be here but if I'm not, just know that he's always there.."

"Luke you'll be the best Dad. Fatherhood is the best thing in the world.. I I know I made my mistakes but I'm trying to fix them..."

Jay walked away towards his brother.

"Jay you made a huge mistake. Why did you do that?"

"Protect my family from getting killed.. I'm the bad guy. I I know I cheated. I I did it to protect them. Levi Easton Jack and Mallory.. I I just didn't want them gone, but they are. So I I guess I was at the wrong."

"Damn right you were. Jay you should have told someone. You were even investigating! H how is that fair? Y you put the kids and Erin through shit and y you just get to lie. I u don't even believe you. You are damn lucky Carlie is letting you stay with her. What do you think Caroline would say? She would say 'You need to fix this'."

"You need to fix this." Carlie  said. Will and Jay both heard her voice. They both turned around.

"Carlie Juliette, w what are you doing here?"

"Oh I'm here to tell you that you shouldn't have done that. Jay Erin is the best thing that's happened to you. I I already told you that, but it seems you don't listen. He's right Jay Caroline would tell you the same thing I'm telling you.."

"C can you please stop bringing up Caroline. I I miss her."

"I miss her too." Will said

The three siblings we're arguing. No one had noticed the two soldiers walking into the hospital.
