Don't Know Nothing

Chapter 5 - Everyone has a secret

I was trying to find my phone the next day to call my parents but for some reason I couldn't find it.

'Adam, have you seen my phone? I left it somewhere but I just can't remember where. Argh this whole can't remember things is driving me nuts.' I yelled to Adam. After I finished my sentence I could hear Adam laugh.

'It's not funny okay, I just want to call my mom and ask her when I can come over.' I yelled to Adam, even harder than the first time. I heard footsteps behind me and when I turned around I saw Adam standing in the doorway holding my phone in his left hand.

'Is this what you were looking for?' He asked me with the same smile on his face he throws at me every time.

'Where did you find that stupid thing?' I asked him, while I was grabbing my phone out of his hands.

'It was lying on the table that is standing next to the sofa, maybe next time you'll have to buy glasses.' Adam said to me, still smiling at me. Because Adam his smile was so adorable I couldn't stay mad at him. I smiled at him back and asked him to leave because I wanted to speak to my mom in private. Adam walked away and I tried to find my parents in my contact list.

Finally, I was beginning to become worried. The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that I didn't know all the people who were in my contact list. When I scrolled further trough my contact list I saw more people who weren't really familiar to me. I mean who are James and Jesse for example. I didn't even know I was hanging out with other boys besides Adam.

I selected my Dad his number and I called him. After ringing the phone for three times I could hear his familiar voice on the other side of the line.

'Hey Kaylynn, I was wondering when you were going to call. How is everything going?' He asked me.

'I'm fine Dad, I still use my medication but I feel fine. My stomach is hurting less. But on the other hand I still don't know other details of my life. So I was wondering if one of you could come and pick me up tomorrow?' I hoped that one of my sisters, Jasmine or Sophia, had time to pick me up. Jasmine was my youngest sister and she still lived with my parents. Sophia was only a couple of years younger than me but she was already happily married for five years with her David.

'Jasmine? Do you have any plans for tomorrow? No? Can you pick up Kaylynn?' I could hear my dad ask my sister in the background.

'Well, Jasmine can pick you up tomorrow at around one o'clock in the afternoon. Is that alright with you?' My dad asked to me. I told him it was fine and told him goodbye.

My parents and my sisters had visited me a couple of times in the hospital. They wanted me to stay with them till I would get my memory back. But I thought it would be better if I would live with Adam, because that was the same place I lived when I lost my memory. So it would be obivious that I would regain my memory quicker here than with my parents. 

I walked into the living room to find Adam there. I explained to him that I was going to leave tomorrow to go to my parents.

'Okay, by the way I have to leave soon because I have to go to uhm.. my job. I have this meeting.' Adam said to me. I thought it was strange that Adam was acting so mysterious. He hadn't told me what kind of job he had. I still had the feeling that Adam was hiding something from me. Something important, but I didn't know why he was holding it back for me. But for some reason I was to afraid to ask him what he was hiding. 

'It is alright, do you know when you will be back?' I asked him. 

'Well, not really. A meeting can take a long time or it will be finished within half an hour. I'll never know for sure.' Adam said, he was trying to avoid making eye contact with me. I had the feeling somehting was wrong but I didn't want to say something about it. 

'Well okay, have fun I guess,' I said to Adam trying to smile at him like I didn't get the message. After that Adam left the house. Because I didn't really had something to do I installed myself on the sofa and watched some television for some hours.

When Adam was still gone around dinner time I was beginning to feel a bit upset. I still didn't know why Adam wouldn't tell me what his secret was. I mean his job couldn't be that embarrassing right? Maybe if I could find a laptop or something I would be able to find out some more details from him. Maybe i could Google him or find some files from his job. 

I searched through the house. At some point I came to a room I couldn't remember. I tried to open the door but it was locked. Well this is strange? 

I didn't really pay any attention to it and I continued my searching. After I entered the bedroom Adam had slept for the last couple of days for the second time since I had begon my searching today I finally found his laptop hiding under his nightstand. 

I quickly grabbed it and I turned it on. But for some reason it wouldn't start. When I tried again I saw a little red blinking light right above the battery sign which indicated that the laptop didn't have any power left. I looked under the nightstand again and found a charger for the laptop. I plugged the laptop in hoping to go onto the internet so I could find some answers. 

"PASSWORD NEEDED"

'Oh come on, stupid laptop!' I yelled at the laptop. Why does Adam need to have a password on his laptop. I just want to look up some simple stuff on the internet. Adam had told me that my phone broke down due to the car accident so I couldn't use my phone to go onto the internet because I had this stupid old phone you can only text and call with. 

Just when I wanted to search through Adam his room to find a hint what his password could be I heard someone putting keys into the front door. I quickly shutdown the laptop and put it back on his place. 

Just before Adam entered the living room I could jump back on the sofa and pretend like I was reading a magazine. 

'Hey Adam, did you have a good meeting?' I asked him. 

'Yeah, it was alright,' Adam said not sounding very enthusiastic.

Okay my inspiration is holding me back a little bit. Sorry that this chapter is so boring but I just don't want this to be a very short story! So I hope you can forgive me :') 

I'll try to update as soon as possible, the next chapter will be better I promise! :)
