Erens POV
Levi grabbed my cold hand with his warm one and dragged me back up the now familiar wooden stairs that led to his living room. He stopped. Staring at the metal contraption I had takes notice of earlier this month. He picked it up and handed it to me, leather harnesses and buckles dangling from the boxy metal compartments.
"W-what is it Levi?" I said while staring intensely at the confusing machine. I heard him take a shaky sigh. Was he alright?
"It's called ODM gear" He paused, seeming to perk up a little at my interested face.
"It stands for omni directional mobility gear" Well, Levi has officially scienced me. I sent a look at him.
"Would you prefer 3D maneuvering gear?" He said with exasperation. I grinned and nodded, making fun of my own stupidity. He nodded and gestured to the straps.
"Do you understand how these are supposed to go, or do you need help" I looked down at the tangled mess and honestly saw no possibility of me being able to do them myself. I looked up hopelessly. I saw Levis eyes sparkle with what looked like amusement before he bent down and started untangling the harnesses.

After about three minuets he had laid it out on the floor how it was supposed to look when the straps were all in their right place. I noticed him loosen a few of the buckles, making the straps longer, probably because they were in his size before. And he is a lot shorter than me, if we're being honest here.
Levi looked up at me from where he was crouched on the ground.
"Do you want to try it on?" I looked at it warily, especially the odd handles sticking out of each cartridge. As if noticing my unease, Levi pulled the handles out revealing sharp, shiny blades attached to them. I gasped, why did Levi have these? Was it a project, or was there some deeper answer I wasn't seeing? I contemplated.
The shiny mechanism was tempting me.
Wait.
"What exactly does it do?" I asked Levi. He gave me a look, his lips didn't move, didn't smile, but his eyes did, they shined like the sun in his moonlit living room.
"It flies" Well I'm in. As a kid I used to always look at the birds in the sky and wish I could fly like them, be free like them. It was my dream, and here Levi was, providing a way for my dream to come true, there was no way I could pass this up. I picked up the harness and stepped through the loops and pulling it up like a pair of pant and than buckling it at the waist. Levi picked up one both cartridges and held them on either side of me, motor at my back.
"Eren, see those two dangling ones, yeah, hook it through their and clip them together" I did as he instructed, and the same with my other side. He let go. I felt the weight of the 3DMG hanging on my hips. I stumbled a bit,
But Levi caught me and stood me upright again, hands resting on my shoulders a little longer than necessary. Not that I was complaining. I looked down and noticed a wire, no, two wires that led to where the two swords lay abandoned on the floor.
"How does this thing work?" I asked, still eyeing the swords. He picked them up, holding them. A flash of nostalgia crossed his face before he handed them to me.
The handle was grooved for gripping purposes and had an odd clutch, like a break on a bike, I tensed my fingers on my right hand to see what it did, but before I did Levi stopped me.
"Eren No!" He said quickly, I automatically loosened my grip. I blinked.
"Sorry" He sighed in relief.
"No, I'm sorry, but, just not in here ok?" He said looking around. I nodded.
"So, that thing you were about to pull, the trigger, will send a wire with a tip meant to get stuck in walls or whatever, is shot out out of that" He said pointing to a small compartment resting on the thick belt around my waist before he continued.
"While using this, you will be faced with quickly changing g-forces, like a roller coaster, so if you aren't good with those, this really isn't for you" I grinned, I had always loved roller coasters, the adrenaline and wind in my face was one of my favourite things. Levi seemed to acknowledge this so he kept going.
"It's really all about balance." He paused before he thought of something else.
"To change direction, in case you hadn't already figured this out, you shoot from a different hand, you will need to able to do this really quickly when you have to maneuver through different situations" His face darkened with... Remorse? His speech faltered for a second, before he made a small gasp for air and continued. He seemed so pained, I wish he would tell me what's troubling him.
"The way you get speed and momentum is from these condensed gas tanks" He said rapping on a cylindrical canister that rested atop the metal boxes with his knuckles. It sounded hollow.
"Shit, these are almost empty" He said unscrewing both from their spot and walking to the corner where an old helium type gas thing sat. It was old and had chipping green paint, but I could still make out three names carved jaggedly among the metal canister.
Isabel.
Farlan.
"Rivaille" Was that what Levi's real name is? Who are Isabel and Farlan?
A high pitched squeal came from the corner as Levi filled my small tanks. When he was done, he screwed them back in, and dusted his hands off.
"Well I think your ready to try this out" He said and dragged me away.

We ended up at the local park. It was completely deserted, though it wasn't surprising considering the fact that it was around 2:30 AM. We stood underneath a large maple tree.
"Shoot two wires at that branch" Levi said pointing to a thick branch that hung directly overhead. I clutched both triggers at the same time, the sound of air getting cut filled my ears. The sharp tips dug into the wood.
"Now slowly put force on the triggers" I squeezed slightly and felt my feet slowly leave the ground, I struggled to keep balance for a minute before I found it and hovered limply. Levi nodded in approval.

After another hour or so he had me swing from tree to tree. A little more than a few times I missed the branch or trunk and slammed ungracefully into the grass. Levi told me to get back up every single time, no matter the fall. And I did.
And in no time I had mastered the art of it.
"I have never seem anyone learn that fast" Levi said with appreciation, I honestly didn't expect myself to learn that fast either.
"Levi?" He looked over, acknowledging that he had heard me.
"Do you have one?" He had that mischievous look in his eyes again.
"No, that is what our criminal offence will be, 'cause I know where one is"

Okay, first of all, I know that in the anime it took an average of like 2-3 years to have mastered 3DMG but for plots sake I changed it, though the speed in which he learned was still impressive to Levi, so in this au it still takes longer than that, Eren is just a super fast learner.
QOTD: Have you ever been to a concert, and if so, who did you see?
AOTD: Ya I have, but it was more like a festival and I saw so many people I don't even remember them all now, and I am going to a Hedley one, ooh and I have seen Skillet, but that's it I think...
Hope you enjoyed!
