“Would you please come on?” I nagged.

Lexi. Alexis Monroe is my full name. Everyone calls me Lexi, or Lexis. My family calls me Alex, it’s really whatever you prefer, and I’m a junior at South Memorial High school. Who was I nagging you ask, my boyfriend. Yes, I have a boyfriend and he’s captain of the football team, too. His name is Jacob.

He’s not conceited, or a know it all, or bossy, which is how most of the captains are in the movies. He’s sweet and nice and smart. He’s not half bad in the looks category either. Most girls in our grade think he’s so hot. I don’t. He has dark brown curly hair, like me, and really pretty green eyes. Muscle, yeah he definitely has it.

We’ve gone to school together ever since kindergarten and we never really talked ‘cause he was one of the popular guys and I was normal. But suddenly in sophomore year he started talking to me more, smiling at me more, trying to hang out with me more. And then he asked me out beginning of junior year. So I said yes.

It’s not like we ever had a problem with each other. So, no, I’m not popular. You would think that since I’m dating the captain of the football team I’d be the captain of the cheerleading team with the rich daddy, right? I’m not. I’m on the varsity drill team and that’s about it. I’m not captain either. And my dad has money but isn’t rich. But enough about Jacob, he isn’t that special.

I don't really have a lot of friends. I mean I have them, but not like the whole grade. I have three main ones.

There’s Bailey, the total country sweetheart but doomed to the disease of being a hopeless romantic. We met in 3rd grade when she joined my soccer team and  came to our school the following year.

Then Tessa the blonde, blue eyed, perfect British princess. We met in 6th grade after our two elementary schools came together. We think she was a model back in England because she’s insanely pretty but she insists that she wasn’t.

Then there’s Liz. I don’t even know what to say about her except that she’s tough, and brave, and has an attitude that matches her big brown eyes. We’ve known each other forever, we do everything together, and she really is the sister I never had. She’s my other half (Ignore the cheesiness of that statement).

But what I don’t like about them, is that they’re jealous of me because I’m going out with Jacob. Well except for Liz, she has a boyfriend from the football team too, Kyle Sanders. And Tessa, she’s a little jealous but knows this cute guy who likes her. Bailey’s still the same, bless her little heart. But it really bothers me that Tessa and Bailey are jealous. Jacob’s average, right? No supermodel that’s for sure.

“He’s just so hot!” Bailey said coming up to me.

I was standing by my locker waiting for Jacob to finish talking to some of his football friends. Bailey and I were lucky enough to get lockers next to each other.

“If you say so.” I shrugged.

“C’mon you know how hot he is. Every girl in this school is dying to go out with him. If you don’t like him why’d you ask him out?” Bailey asked, closing her locker.

“We’ve gone over this Bailey. I do like him and I didn’t even ask him. He asked me.” I said putting my hands on her shoulders.

“Still. That boy is like a raindrop from heaven.” Bailey said licking her lips.

I smiled at her then dropped my hands when Liz and Tessa came over.

“What’s goin’ on here?” Tessa asked in her sweet British accent.

“I was asking Lexi about Jacob again." Bailey smiled.

Liz and I rolled our eyes. We’ve known each other since we were born. I’m serious. She’s only four days older than me. She’s October 19 and I’m October 23. We’re practically sisters in real life.

“I honestly don’t see what’s so great about him.” Liz shook her head.

“Everything Lizzy. Everything.” Jacob grinned.

“Don’t call me Lizzy.” She scowled.

Jacob smiled and slung his arm over my shoulder.

“What took you so long?” I asked.

“I was talking.” He said simply.

“Yeah. I know. I’ve been waiting forever.” I said.

“It was five minutes.” Jacob shrugged.

“Five minutes to long. You just lost your time today.” I said.

Every day we would spend all of our free period together, since we only had one class together. Free period was only twenty minutes anyway.

“But why?” Jacob asked.

“Because you take too long. Besides, Tyler and I need to work on our project.” I said.

Tyler is this guy in my social studies class. We have an assignment where we would be paired up with someone and become a married couple. We’d have to figure out finances and stuff like that. And the wife is pregnant (so to speak) so you have to figure out pre-baby expenses to.

“Tyler can wait. You’re not really married. You know that right?” Jacob asked.

He is so the jealous type.

“Of course. The real question is do you?” I grinned.

Liz laughed. She grabbed my hand and pulled me down the hall. I turned to look back at Jacob and he winked at me. What a great guy right?
