After about another 10 minutes we were standing in the lobby holding our suitcases.
“So, who wants to check us in?” Liz clapped her hands together.
The lobby was full of kids talking and checking in.
“It would’ve been smart if they spilt every group up in between two hotels.” I said.
Bailey nodded.
“I’ll do it.” Jake offered.
“You hate lines.” I said.
“There’s a self check-in right over there.” He pointed over to the empty area where there was a big computer screen and no line.
We hurried over there before anyone could see us and I pulled out all of our papers.
“Room 225 floor 6.” I said.
“We’re all in one room?” Bailey whined.
“Yeah, they only paid for one room per team. The four of us can share two beds, or Jake and I can share a bed and one of you will just sleep on the couch thingy.” I said as we turned around and started walking.
“How do you know there’s gonna be a couch thingy?” Tessa asked.
“It’s a fancy hotel, there’s always a couch thingy.” I smiled at her.
Then I slammed straight into someone and stumbled back.
“Sorry!” I exclaimed looking up.
“No trouble.” The guy smiled at me.
Then I furrowed my eyebrows and concentrated on his face.
“He looks familiar.” Liz muttered in my ear and I slowly nodded in reply.
“You ok?” He asked waving a hand in all of our faces.
I shook my head and blinked.
“Oh yeah, sorry. You just look…” I trailed off looking all over his face.
“Familiar.”Bailey finished for me.
“Very, very familiar.” Tessa nodded.
“Um, I’m Landon.” He stuck his hand out.
All of us except Jake gasped and jumped back a little.
“Something wrong?” He slowly retracted his hand.
“You don’t recognize us?” Liz breathed.
He shook his head confused.
“Liz, Bailey, Tessa, and Lexi.” Liz pointed to all of us and his eyes widened.
“Lexi?” He gasped.
I nodded suddenly out of breath.
“You look…” He trailed off looking me up and down.
“Great.” We both muttered at the same time.
I gave him a nervous smile.
“Well what about us pretty boy?” Liz snapped.
Her attitude never fell through.
“You all look great. Really different, but great.” He smiled.
“Well duh we look different, it’s been like 4 years.” Bailey said.
“So uh, Dallas?” I asked.
“Yeah, San Antonio?” And I nodded.
Then there was an awkward silence.
