I drove down to the park and saw a bunch of Jake’s friends.
“Call me whenever.” I said.
He nodded and got out of the car. I backed out of the parking spot and went towards the lake. I parked in the lot and got out of my car. He wasn’t here yet so I went down to the beach and pulled my shoes off. I didn’t care if I had sand all over me so I sat down and waited. About 10 minutes later Jacob sat down next to me and dropped two strawberry sodas.
“Sorry I’m late.” He said pulling off his shoes.
“It’s cool. Guess what?!” I exclaimed, grabbing a soda.
“What?” He asked drinking the soda.
“We got accepted to Birdsong. We’re going in a week!” I smiled.
Jacob choked on the soda and started coughing. I pulled my legs in to criss cross and looked at him.
“Are you serious?” He asked.
“Yeah, great isn’t it?!!”I exclaimed.
“No! How long are you gonna be gone?” Jacob asked.
“Only two weeks.” I muttered.
“Lexi! How are you just gonna leave me?” Jacob asked.
“Jacob calm down. We got two extra tickets. But I don’t know what we’re gonna do with em. If Bailey, Tess, or Liz don’t need em, you can have one.” I said.
Jacob looked at me and then out over the lake. I sighed and followed his gaze.
“Jacob you don’t have act so helpless. You can survive without me.” I smiled.
Jacob looked back at me and took in my whole face.
“What?” I asked.
“I’m just looking at you. Your beautiful self.” He grinned.
I put my head on his shoulder and snuggled up to him.
“Have you ever wondered what would happen if we broke up?” Jacob asked, grabbing my hand.
“No. ‘Cause it won’t ever happen.” I smiled looking up at him. He smiled back. I put my small hand on his face and rubbed his cheek.
“Listen Jacob, I know I’ve been kinda… bossy and rude lately, but I’ve just been under a lot of stress. This whole Birdsong thing, school, Kenneth.” I sighed.
“I understand. Have I ever told you, you have the most beautiful brown eyes in the world?” Jacob asked.
“Yeah, millions of times.” I smiled.
“Good.” He smiled.
He let go of my hand and wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me close.
“Have I ever told you, you have the cutest little dimples in the world?” I smiled.
“Yeah, unfortunately.” Jacob half smiled.
“Why don’t you like your dimples? They’re adorable!” I smiled.
I pinched one of his cheeks and he started to smile.
“Maybe you wouldn’t have ‘em if you didn’t smile so much.” I grinned.
“How can I help it with you around?” He said.
I smiled at him. He bent over to kiss my nose and I laughed. Then I kissed his cheek and we stood up and started to walk along the beach.
“So what’s supposed to happen at this Birdsong place?” Jacob asked.
