I sat on my bed strumming my guitar and singing quietly, writing down thoughts that came to mind "reach for the stars and leave behind the memory of the terrible things" in my note book. I may be able to sing but that doesn't mean I know how to write songs.

"Reya" Ronnie said, opening the door.

"Yes?"

"I think its time that you know something."

"Whatever it is I probably already know and you just haven't figured it out."

"Well where are all your pictures? of when you were little?"

"Where are you going with this?" I asked while taking out the box of pictures and opening it.

Ronnie found a picture that was ripped, I ripped it in half when I was four and my mom told me that my father left, it angered me so i ripped him out of the picture.

"Why do you want to look at my pictures?"

He put another photo next to it, the same one but with my dad still in it.

"Why do you have that picture? where did you get it?"

"It's mine, I just wanted to see if my suspicions were correct."

"What the hell?!" I yelled, standing up from the bed quickly.

"The picture is of me, my daughter, and her crazy mother Miranda. The picture was taken at Disneyland, we scraped together all the money we had and took her there for her third birthday."

"No...no you're just... just really fucking creepy. Why are you doing this?!"

"Reyalyn" he snapped and I slapped him across the face.

"Ow! What the hell was that for!?"

"Leaving" I said angrily and ran out of my room, out of the house.

I ran until I was out of breath then just kept waking towards north oaks park. I sat down on a bench facing the lake and stared out over the water. tears rolling down my cheeks on cold fall night, I should have grabbed a jacket.

"why the hell does all of this happen to me?" "why me ?" I screamed up at the night sky that's filled with stars. I let the tears continue to run down my cheeks and covered my arms as it was getting colder. I stood up and walked over to the swings where another boy who looked about my age is sitting. I sat down letting the swing slowly sway with the blows of cold wind.

"were you crying?" the boy asked me

"a lot of stuff has happened the past couple of days"

"I haven't seen you here before"

"I'm not normally on this side of the park and I just moved like two days ago so I live over here now"

"oh"

"yah"

"so what school do you go to?"

" I will be going to harbor middle school tomorrow"

"what's your name?"

"what's your name?" I asked back

"Jacky"

"Reya"

"well reya I will be looking for you"

"okay bye Jacky" I said with a laugh and got up off the swing and started walking away.

"wait reya!"

I turned around while walking to face him.

"what?" I asked, amused.

"you shouldn't walk around alone here at night" he said running up to me.

"do you just want an excuse to talk to me longer?"

he looked down and I swear I could see him blush, I giggled.

"no! its not safe"

"sure its not Mr. tomato"

"you noticed!" he put his hand on his cheeks.

"moonlight is brighter than you think"

"not as bright as your smile"

"my smile is duller than the look in a teachers eyes in the middle of the year!" I said jokingly.

"you're beautiful"

"am not"

"are too"

"okay I'm beautiful"

"yes you are"

"okay well this is my house goodnight Jacky ,go home"

"okay byyyyyebyyyyye reeeeeyyyyaa" he waved and turned around. I watched him leave he actually live just across the street and a couple houses down.

the door opened and Ronnie pulled me inside.

"who was that?"

"uh, a boy named Jacky who was at the park, only lives a couple houses down and insists the park isn't safe at night"

"its not"

"okay well I don't care goodbye" I said and ran up the stairs to my room.
