Chapter 21: "Are your parents home?"
"Believe me when I say I'll always be there"
-
"Shh, be quiet" Gavin whispered as we sneaked our way out of the school
After mine and Monica's talk, I said that I'll be fine finding Gavin alone. I even skipped some classes because of it. Stupid me I searched everywhere, even outside. But knowing Tiffany, she can't solve a math equation even if her life depended on it. Yes, her group's like that but I'm not criticizing, okay? Just stating some facts.
You know where she hid Gavin? In the damn janitor's closet. When I passed there I heard screams and when I opened it, I found Gavin. I felt dumb after that, why didn't I check there first?
We're now acting like ninjas, trying not to be caught. Our last period is about to end anyway so as long as we don't get caught, we won't get in any trouble since we didn't miss much.
"I know the whole thing now" I whispered while he glanced to his side to check for anyone or a teacher.
"Yeah, I saw you bawl your eyes out a while ago" he joked whch earned him a light punch on the arm. He ran behind a vending machine and signaled that's it's safe for me to follow him. Once we were together again, he backed up against a wall before we turn into a curb, he glanced over his shoulder and luckily, no one was there. I felt like an agent. I always do crazy things with Gavin, not that I'm complaining, though. We finally reached the front door and Gavin opened it for me and gestured for me to go first. That's a new one, Gavin being a gentleman?
I sighed "I didn't know someone's life could be so messed up as Monica's. I didn't expect it, I bet if you were there you'd cry, too"
"Yeah, I'd rather not to. I'm not into those kind of conversations. So are you still mad at me?" he ran his over his hair that made him look hotter than ever.
"I don't know, do I still have a reason to be mad at you?" I returned the question.
"Not that I know of" he winked and I felt his hand snake to my back and he pulled me to his side while we walked. I don't know where, but we just walked.
"Then I guess we're back to normal" I smirked and glanced up to meet his eyes. He was already looking and I couldn't help but melt just by looking at them. But it's too early for that, we just made up.
"So you're friends again with Zach after the whole incident?" I asked all of the sudden
he shrugged but didn't remove his grip on my waist "Yeah, we talked about it. And we have so many memories to be thrown away like that" Wow, Gavin's sounding like a girl right now and he's not even bothered.
I feel guilty now, It's nearly one month that we're dating but I haven't asked him about the changes to him in the two years that we drifted apart "How about Owen?"
"Owen? He's like a brother to me. We still are, I guess, oh yeah, I have a question"
"Shoot" I said
"Is there something between Laura and Owen? Owen was ranting about Laura a while ago but when I said that he's not acting like himself lately, he blushed and excused himself. We met again before lunch and he didn't talk much." he explained.
"You see them a lot in Mr. Matthew's class and they even sit together. So I think it won't be that long before they realize that they're probably gonna make a cute couple" I never asked Laura about that, seems like Laura has a lot of explaining to do. For once, she's the one who's exploded with questions. For the past weeks she's been doing it to me, about the issue with me and Gavin. But now I know there's something up, I won't let this slide.
