Chapter 8

When Hecho whoever stepped out, there was a small uproar from the crowd. It wasn't anything super impressive so that made me feel better. "She's new that's why she's undefeated only been here for a few months." That made me feel even better, Riley has been doing this for years... unfortunately.

"What's Riley's record?" I hesitantly ask, in truth I'm not sure I want to know. I could just total it up and see how many times she has risked her life. I thought fighters would take a break, like they'd fight every other week. But, of course Riley pushes herself. I was practically stared at as if I were crazy when I asked her that a few days ago.

"She hasn't lost in almost a year, but we've been doing this for so long I lost count. She'll know, I think she's pretty proud of it." I think my stomach just back flipped.

"IN THIS CORNER THE GIRL ON FIRE!
AHAHAH HUNGER GAMES REFERENCE!
PLEASE WELCOME RILEY REBEL MATTHEWS!"

An unfamiliar song starts to play with a very familiar band. But when I recognize the band as Nickelback, I know it is my girl - aside from the fact she was announced. Now, the crowd goes crazy. Literally, cheering and screaming. Some people pat her shoulders as she brushes her way through the crowd. How is she the underdog? My eyes trail off to the walking steroid, and that's when I remember.

Here comes the next contestant.

Is that your hand on my girlfriendis that your hand?I wish you'd do it againI'll watch you leave here limpingI wish you'd do it again.I'll watch you leave her limpingthere goes the next contestant.

As Riley brushes past everyone her gaze is completely fixated on the task at hand. Her focus is on Hecho in the ring, even as she ducks under the rope and slides off her robe. I shiver slightly at the sight of her perfect body. Of course, I'm not the only one who is admiring. Others are just more vocal.

Each time she bats an eyelash somebody's grabbing her ass.

Everyone keeps coming onto her. This time somebody's getting hurt. Here comes the next contestant.

She saunters towards the middle of the ring, bumping fists with her opponent before waving her arms to get the crowd pumped again. Her feet carry her around the stained mat. "She actually likes this doesn't she?" I question absentmindedly.

"She loves the adrenaline, and I think she enjoys having control. She likes the fact she can somewhat control the outcome of the match. But she hates that she has to do this." Riley can get adrenaline rushes and control in lots of different ways other than fighting. I'll have to google later.

"RULES ARE THERE ARE NO RULES MOTHER FUCKERS!
TAP OUT, OR KNOCKOUT ONLY!"

My stomach churns, the bell dings and the other girl goes on the offensive immediately, effectively putting Riley into a corner. Hecho swings and my girl ducks, thank God and immediately throws an elbow into her neck. My heart is going crazy right now, pretty sure I can even hear it. A few minutes pass as they continue to throw random hits. Well Hecho tries and fails about 95 percent of the time. Until, that 5 percent plays a factor and she gets a good knock to the jaw. I outwardly wince when she gets hit again and a kick is applied heavily to her already bruised ribs.

"GOD DAMN IT RILEY! BLOCK!" Josh exclaims, seemingly annoyed.

DAMN IT! Every instinct of mine is screaming to go help her, get the fucking steroid off of her but I can't. Riley is on the ground, blocking a punch to the back of her head. Which meant leaving the front of her face unguarded, when the steroid kicked her in the nose I'm instantly moving towards the ring. Josh's hand stopped me, I didn't have to look at him to know that he was admonishing me. There was blood, from my girl. Blood from my Riley. I'm seeing crimson, until the anger in my glare fades to confusion. Why is Riley smirking? "Watch this Luke."
