Chapter 9

I did it. I told him everything like I wanted to. Like I did, and he didn't run away. You have no idea how much of a weight was lifted off my shoulders. Even I didn't realize the intensity. My parents and Farkle were not the only reasons we left. Josh and I only moved a few towns over to Katy but I had to get out of there. I saw the Bradford sisters everywhere, not to mention their father breathing over my shoulder every chance he got. He owned fight night, so in some ways he owned me. I didn't know that when I was with Farkle, but I never make the same mistake twice. I hate authority but when someone has the power to kill you, you tend to do whatever they ask and this week I was asked to not take a fight. If I had to guess it would be because Felix wanted his daughter - Bitchy Bradford - to catch up to my winning streak.

I don't mind, I only hope I can face her during New Year's Knockouts. But right now, I cut down on my training, I needed to heal seeing as the Halloween Tournament was a few weeks away. My ribs need a fucking break, if you've never worked out or fought before than just know that two days after the fight or work out is the absolute worst. You're muscles are sore, your body aches and this morning my rib cage is on fire. I wrap it tight to prevent any unnecessary movement and after releasing my hair from a bun it falls into curls. I shrug my shoulders and leave my face alone, make up only makes my battle scars look worse, unless they were bruises.

I hung out a little with Lucas yesterday, yeah that's right I didn't call him Sparky. Only in my head though, he secretly enjoys the nickname. Anyways, I haven't seen him since he got into an argument with his dad who sounds like an asshole. Again, I don't do well with authority. Josh was already at school, he's a few years older than me but got so caught up in underground fighting and the money it brought he ended up dropping out of school for a little while. He took me in once my parents died, he was used to going it alone and I didn't want to go with anyone else. His parents were never around, literally he had no idea where the hell they were for almost a year. He'd get some cash in the mail and a note and that was it.

I swing my leg over my bike and throw my helmet off, knowing who was behind me. "So you and Friar huh?"

"What gave it away?" I spin around with a sarcastic smirk.

"What the hell happened to your face?" Charlie spews, I didn't know it looked that bad. Just a little swelling on my nose and a few scratches. Should that be a shot to my ego? "did Lucas fucking do this?"

I scoff, he's met Sparky right? "Yeah right." Lucas is a big softy, now onto the bigger question. "Is there a reason you tend to stalk me?"

"You're gorgeous." I slowly nod my head with an amused expression, this guy just doesn't give up. "Come on, you have to give me some sort of credit." I do? My brows arch on their own at his ridiculous assumption. "Even though you've brought me down twice I'm still here aren't I?" Ain't got nothing on Lucas.

I glance to my right, over Charlie's shoulder and there he was leaning against the entryway to the school, with the smirk plastered on his face and with those eyes - my God those eyes can straight up kill me. "Maybe you shouldn't try so hard." I pat Charlie on the shoulder and saunter towards him, I need that feeling of adrenaline he gives me. I need his lips on mine, I don't know why but I'm addicted. As soon as I reach him, he's wrapping his arms around my tiny waist and I crash my lips against his before he can finish a sentence and it's clear he was not used to public displays of affection - at least not to this magnitude. He stumbled at first before reacting and setting my body on fire. Our lips move in sync but since it's early I keep my tongue to myself. You're welcome, Lucas.
