AHHH omg guys I want to thank all my lil' bookworms for getting me to SIXTY. FIVE. VOTES. on this story. like what even omg. I guess you guys really like this fanfiction. thanks so much <3

[Kahlan's POV]

The 5 days went by like 50 years, since I really wanted to live in my giant house for the next 5 years. Finally, though, the day came. I had to drive all the way back to Kansas City, Missouri, get my car, and transport my things to my brand new house. Now, I was not sure how to do this at first. How exactly would I be able to drive my car AND a U-Haul at the same time? Exactly, I wouldn't be. Here's the thing: I have no stuff. I mean, I have small things, but I can just put them in my car. I guess whoever gets my old apartment next gets some free furniture. Good for them. The house I get will have furniture already in it, so I was just like, whatever. I told Jessi that she'd DEFINITELY be able to take my furniture if she wants it. I mean, what are friends for? Now that I've loaded up my stuff in the back trunk... LET THE JOURNEY BEGIN!

[Calvin's POV]

I decided to text Kahlan. No answer. I wasn't really surprised, I mean, nobody answers right away, right? Then, about 30 minutes went by. Still, NO ANSWER. 1 hour, no answer. 2 hours, no answer. Right when I got hopeless, worrying about the potential ways she could have died, I got a text.

[Kahlan] - dude, so sorry i missed your texts. i was moving into my new house

[Me] - no its fine

[Kahlan] - dude, you wanna see it? it's huuuge

[Me] - sure

She gave me her address so I could come over. Kahlan wasn't exaggerating: this place was HUUUGE. Not like a mansion or anything, but definitely a very large house. As soon as I got in, she started talking about how she missed her boyfriend, Brad. She said that he would've liked the house, and that's why she was thinking about him. For some reason, I felt... jealous, I think... it was weird.

[Kahlan's POV]

I was acting out Jessi's plan. I think it was working? I said this to Calvin, not sure how he would react.

"Man... my boyfriend Brad would have loved this house... I can't believe I haven't brought him up lately! He's all I ever think about. He had these super cool cars that his dad bought him, and his abs... oh my god..." I stared off into the distance and pretended to dream about my boyfriend's sexy bod. It made me really self-aware of my own loneliness.

"Wow, you have a... boyfriend? Huh... that's cool... cool," Calvin responded. I sat astonished on the couch. Does he... like me?

"Calvin, another thing about Brad... he's not real. My friend wanted me to, uh, pretend I had a boyfriend, okay? Maybe some day I'll be able to explain, but not now. Not today," I said to him. When he responded, he seemed a little bit too happy that I don't have a boyfriend. Maybe he's just glad I'm not with a "Brad," because anyone who is named Brad is a bit of a tool. Really, though, deep down, I was excited to know that maybe, just maybe, Calvin actually likes me as more than just a friend.
