How Complicated Can It Get

Chapter Thirty Six

I yelled out to Jake as calmly as I could, so that I wouldn't disrupt my kids. I doubled over in pain over a chair when Jake finally ran in and straight to me. "Janey what's going on." I told him that I think my water broke, as another contraction ripped through my entire body causing me to hit the ground. "Jane, honey just breath. We are going to get you to the hospital." He yelled out to the kids to grab the two duffel bags that were in the hallway outside our bedroom. Luke ran into the kitchen, and saw me on the ground. "Mom, what is going on? Why are you on the ground?" I was about to answer when another painful contraction caused me not to. Who knew that when you were in labor with triplets that their would be this much pain this early. "Luke, your mother's water broke, the babies are coming. Will you help me get your mother up and into the car?" He nodded, but then as soon as I was up Luke remembered something terrible. "Dad, your car is in the shop, and Harley has Lauren's car out of state on his business trip." Jake helped me sit down on a chair, and looked out the window to find it storming out. "Luke, try to call 911, I am going to help your mother to the living room so she can put her feet up on the couch." Luke ran over to the landline, as Jake lifted me up from the chair, and straight into the living room. "Momma, what's going on? Are you okay?" Lauren asked as Jake helped me sit down on the couch. "Lauren, my water broke, and nobody has a car, so Luke is calling 911..." I was going to keep going but the pain was unbearable. "Lauren will you stay with your mother, while I see how Luke is doing and getting Jane a cool washcloth? Please?" Lauren nodded, and Jake ran out of the room. ¨Mom, you and the babies are going to be perfectly fine, just keep breathing." I smiled, and held my hand up to her cheek. ¨Thank you my darling, but once these babies are born we will need to talk about the ¨throwing something at your little sister incident¨ okay." Lauren lowered her head. ¨I am so sorry momma, I don't know what happened to me, I just flipped out. I didn't mean to hit Gabby, I didn't mean to throw anything actually. I am so sorry mom. It will never happen again.¨ I missed the last half of her apology when another contraction came and hit me hard, and at the wrong time. I was trying to listen to my daughter, but was interrupted by these babies who are ready to make their grand appearance. ¨Oh, honey I know you won't, but your father and I will have to give you some kind of punishment for doing that, even though you are an adult.¨ She laughed, and I laughed through the pain as Gabby took my hand into hers. ¨Mom, I love you and I will love these little siblings the same if not more than I love my other siblings. I love you, and wanted to give you something special.¨ She pulled out a purple velvet box, and it showed a charm bracelet and had six charms. Three of them had baby pictures of my three children with their names on the back, and the other three were left open for the newest members of the Adler family. I pulled her into a hug, and she could tell I was in pain, but neither of us wanted to break apart.
